Box was damaged, taped together. Sax was dusty no plastic bag of any sort of packaging. Looks played. Reed looks used, gross.
Amazon Customer –
The included 1.5 reed made it easier for a beginner like me to start making clear sound (most notes). I will most certainly graduate to a real saxophone, but this is a really satisfying way to get exposure.

This is the most fun you can have for 88 dollars….and it’s the loudest fun you can have without amplification. Easy to hold- carry- play. Absolute joy. I was on the fence- I bought a Dood- I wish I had bought the jsax from the beginning. The Dood is fine- it just isn’t the jsax.
I will say it might be a challenge for a larger person- I’m only 5’3 with small hands- so it’s fine for me- but larger people might be uncomfortable with the tiny size.
You could easily throw this in a backpack- you could ride a bike with it and play in the park. Take it to the beach. Busk.
Throw it in a go bag for the post apocalyptic world….

When I saw this product for the first time, I was very excited to purchase, as I have been a musician for many years, and have owned many pro level saxophones. With this being said, I went into this purchase, knowing that this is advertised as a beginner level type of instrument. I watched some of the videos, and I thought it sounded good enough and looked fun enough to buy. The look of the saxophone is decent and the action on the keys is not bad. It comes with two synthetic reeds, which are nice and a mouthpiece cover and everything that is advertised. So if you’ve ever played saxophone before, this particular instrument plays more like a plastic flute recorder. Having said that, as a saxophonist, I would not recommend anyone buying this instrument if you are learning to play the saxophone as it does not have all of the fingerings, and it lacks a true upper register key. Please forgive me if it sounds like I am raining on the parade of this particular product, but in all fairness, it would be easier for a beginner to purchase a used or student level saxophone and start with it, than to try to learn on this particular thing, and then move over to a real sax that’s going to be even more foreign . I’m going to continue to mess around with the instrument and I will provide an update in the future. So far I consider this to be nothing more than a novelty.

I was hoping to get a little better sound out of it but what can you expect out of molded plastic? I feel like it’s a bit over-priced. I’m sure there are others that will really like it and can possibly get some really fantastic sound from it but it wasn’t me.

Played sax as a kid 50 years ago, as I recall was pretty good. Rec’d the jsax a day before it was promised and in good condition. I got the jsax 2.0 but got a version without the o ring grease. I am guessing that Nuvo originally sent the jsax without the grease and now provide because it is needed. I will say that I emailed Nuvo’s North American contact asking what grease I should use and got a response the same night well after office hours…very impressed.
In any case, so far sound like a goose that is being tortured but have confidence I will get the hang of it with practice. I am happy that I can reintroduce myself to sax before spending hundreds of dollars on a new or used sax. Admittedly, this will take more practice than I thought so again am glad I didn’t spend a ton of money until I know I am fully committed to purchase a real saxophone.

Great transition for my son who enjoyed playing the recorder in elementary school but wasn’t sure he wanted to play another instrument. I wanted to encourage him to keep playing music, but didn’t want to invest $300+ dollars in a saxophone and watch it sit in its case. He picked this up right away and is loving it. I can’t vouch for sound quality, but it seems well- made. It is convenient, lightweight, affordable, and perfect for my young teen. If he keeps playing, I will invest in a more expensive sax.
