I’ve always had normal thermometers in my tanks and I’m so used to cleaning my tanks I’m pretty good at telling the temp just by the feel of the water now a days so when it’s telling me it’s at 77 in my fish tank and I’m feeling the water to be close to a Luke warm I’m sorry I just can’t agree with this thermostat. It’s gotta be off a bit cuz to me what 77 it’s saying actually feels closer to 79/80 to me and Ik 80 temps cuz I have to have my turtles tank at 78-80.. so Ik the feel. I just say be careful in trusting it completely. Always feel the water for yourself cuz you’ll know what just doesn’t seem right. I still give it a 5 star cuz it’s cool looking, nice to press a button and go, and it’s stylish. It’s easy to read and sticks really well. I have 2 of them. I just don’t put all my trust into them that’s all:)

I did not read any description of the item that stated it worked with acrylic, I bought it really to test and it would not get the correct temperature for that tank. I moved it to my nieces tank that is glass and I immediately saw the temp gauge rising to match the thermometer in the tank.
So, works great with glass, not so much for the acrylic tanks. Love how nice and neat it looks and how clear the temp is to read as well.

So let’s go into some details on this.
These things are not perfectly accurate. They take a reading from the outside of your tank. So technically they read the temp of the glass.
They are not 100% accurate. My heater in my tank is pretty near accurate. Within .5 of a degree. But it’s in the dead center on my 75 gallon and my 2 thermometers from this listing are on the left and right sides. I wanted multiple readings since my tank is 4’ long.
After checking each side with a mercury thermometer I can say these are CLOSE. About 2 degrees off from the actual temp, so if you take that into account, they can be used. (Example. These read 76 degrees. My tank IS 78 degrees even though these read 76, in my head i just add 2 degrees to them)
They are nice looking. They have a power button, which when you hit it, turns the screen on for 5 seconds. They re-read each time but the sensor needs time to adjust to a new temp just like any thermometer. Screen is easy to read. Numbers are big.
Overall 4/5 because the reading is incorrect. But it is consistently incorrect. So the product is usable.

Have had this for 3-5 days now. Doesn’t suction to the tank but sticks with 3m sticker paper on the back. 3m is a good brand and i love it has not fallen off or slipped at all! I have changed the temp of the tank a few times on the heater to see if it would read about where i put the in tank heater at and it does. It reads temp on the outside of the glass thru a metal button on the back. Very easy to read and convenient especially at night or early in the morning. I do wish it had a few more features like min. and max temps for the price though just what i was looking for and works great!
