This review is for a Panasonic: KX-TGF944B
My old Panasonic phone was becoming just that– and old Panasonic phone, so after ten years of using the old phone, I started looking for a replacement phone. I had expected to see phones that would read my contact list from my cell, link to my cell for calling, etc., but, nope…
I was getting tired of the spam callers, so this phone looked interesting, as it appeared to offer options for removing, and identifying callers before telephone pickup, based on caller ID.
Pros:
Looks like it will deal with spammers quickly.
Nice range.
Much like all other Panasonic phones.
Battery life is good.
Charger base is small and fits on desk well, while holding the phone securely.
Base unit is smaller than my last Panasonic phone.
During power fails, the phone system will run on the battery in the phone seated in the base unit.
Uses AAA batteries, so I can replace them when needed, or if I want higher amp hour ratings for them.
There is a feature called one ring delay, in which the phone suppresses the first ring to the audible ringer, until Caller ID data is captured, thus, if it is a known spammer, the phone never triggers the local ringer, so I don’t even hear a ring! The spammer gets a “special”, message, and I never even know it…
Selectable ringtones.
Groups to put your contact phone numbers in, that can be renamed if need be. I.E. Friends, family, businesses, etc.
Cons:
The charger cables are not plugin on the charger side, they are wired in place.
The phone does not do CELL Linking, like my previous Panasonic phone did.
The directory has to be input manually, (via the phone handset, or from CALLER ID info), and it does not appear to be able to read from a file, the net, bluetooth, or my cell phone.
I have no idea if the 14,000 numbers from known spammers they put in are ever updated, or how I might force an update if possible.
Ringtones are limited, and I have found no way to upload new tones.
The instructions are clear, and understandable, but there are hundreds of options for this phone, it is a bit of a slog to get through the setup process, but that happens only once usually.
Overall:
I like the phone, it makes short work of spammers! When a number comes in I don’t know, I hit a button on the handset, and the phone asks for them to state their name. If I don’t know them, I hit the, take a hike button, and they go away, and are added to the blocked list.
The phone behaves like a phone should, the phone also has an audio equalizer in it, which helps taylor the sound to my liking. The first unit I got did not have a power supply in it for the base unit. I returned it, and got a replacement cross shipped with no hassle. The replacement had all the parts, and has worked flawlessly for several weeks now. I am partial to Panasonic phones, as I have had one for the past 10 years. I hope this one lasts as long. Construction is as solid as my previous phone, so I expect it will last as long… Only time will tell…
The cost is low for what it does… If I had to pick again I would pick this phone, unless Panasonic ever added CELL connectivity, to this model, then I’d get that one.
08/02/2024:
Almost a year has passed from the time I purchased this phone. It is still working, and I get almost no spam calls anymore… Could not be happier with it!

We had been using an older Panasonic KX-TG9344T phone set for the last decade. While it worked and held up very well, it was nearly useless for call blocking. We would let calls ring over to the answering system and they never left a message. They would do this a dozen times a day! Blocking a blank call like these would not help because the call centers rotate through a hundred or more numbers. This new phone set appears to have fixed that – even without having to put in all our known/welcome caller numbers. In addition, the handset is easier to see (for older eyes) and the sound quality is just as good as the older set. One simultaneous pro/con is that the phone is so feature-rich that one can get lost in trying to read the manual. But the defaults seem to be very carefully chosen to not require detailed reading (still good to use as a reference and to look at it to discover all the excellent features offered). Plus, the product came with 2 additional quick-start guides that answered all the questions I still had after looking at the manual on-line before purchase. In particular, how does the Call Block feature actually categorize and process calls? It’s quite complex, but the unit came with a nice ‘horizontal flowchart’ that explains it. So far, so good. We’re getting the calls we want and not even hearing rings from the ones we don’t 🙂 Amazing product value. Kudos to Panasonic for continuing to improve their line of cordless phones !

We recently had to ditch an expensive set of AT&T phones that we tried to use linking our cell to these house phones. This was after our last set of Panasonic phones were pretty much worn out. The AT&T phones mic volume was horrible and we had to get rid of them. Purchased this set and they work flawlessly. Loud speaker and mic volume, very quick response between cellphone and the base unit. A lot of options to customize how they work for your specific setup. I’ll be sticking with Panasonic from now on.

Facilidad de configurar.

Well made, simple to setup and loaded with features. Spam blocking works great! Runs on 2 AAA batteries, not expensive hard to find ones. Has great range and high quality sound. A great value.

I’ve had great success with every product I used with the Panasonic brand, and this is no exception.
I replaced a cordless system from AT&T that had poor sound, features sometimes didn’t work, that was hard to use. Finally, something didn’t work right on it, and I just threw it into the trash and bought this one.
When I was setting it up, and just plugged in the handsets, each of them, all by itself, talked to the base unit and programmed the connection. And it was ready to go! With the AT&T phones, I had to put each phone into the base unit and program it.
My wife isn’t a tech enthusiast, and she keeps praising the selection of the Panasonic phones because of the superior sound, ease of use and even better appearance.
All that I would wish for that this setup doesn’t have is the ability to connect more handsets–I’d like to have 8 handsets. AT&T appears to be the only cordless phones that handle more than 6. However, I prefer all the advantages of this superior product, accepting the limitation of 6 handsets.
