Frankly, Park Tool makes a lot of products that aren’t strictly necessary. This is probably one of them. You can pry your disc brake pads apart with an old butter knife, a plastic chisel (these actually work pretty well), or just about anything that’s fairly thin and relatively flat. So why buy one of these? Because — like most of Park’s stuff — it’s made for a specific purpose, works perfectly, and will last a lifetime. I use mine just enough that it’s worth the money to have a tool that I can just pick up, do the job, and not think about it.

Prior to buying this tool I was using a screwdriver to try to press my hydraulic brake pads back into place which is a terrible idea and a quick was to damage the pads/pistons.
This tool is not cheap and it’s hyper specialized, but this tool does the job so easily and without damaging the brake pads it’s worth the money. It will also last a lifetime.

Skeptical that this would work better than a butter knife, but it doesn’t flex at all and has the proper thickness. Worked flawlessly without any of the hassle of my previous experiences.

Perfect for use with breaking the pistons free if you buy TRP DHR- EVO brakes. Which is a problem. TRP Don’t come broken in, and I took it to shop to repair and they made it worse. So I purged the system, and did it all myself. Now works perfectly with 1 finger breaking. If I had it to do over I’d buy the Magura brakes. Bike is built of the LUNA CYCLES X2 Ludicrous base build, everything but the frame, engine and battery has been upgraded to top quality parts. If I could do it over I’d build from scratch, you can build a $10K bike for $5800 if you know where to get parts. Especially right now due to the release of 2024 Dampers by fox, 2023 Factory Kashima is under $500 on Jenson and my Fox Float X2 Kashima was 299.99. Plus new Fox 2024 dampers are getting not so great reviews. Save money build from Scratch. My next build is Dengfu E82, Bafang M560 motor 750watt Nominal 1000watt Peak, 1008wh 21amphr 52volt Battery. Don’t buy Luna’s Ludicrous because it overheats real fast if you take advantage of power over 1250watts with FW1. If you want a modded motor buy from Watt Wagons, or get the Bafang Ultra motor. We now have 3000watt Mid-Drive bikes out there, which is def worth looking into.

Worked perfectly. Lives up to the name.

Rather than risk damage to my brake caliper pistons, this tool has been designed for this specific purpose. It might seem like something you only use a few times, but it truly is the right tool for the job. The handle has the right angle that a screwdriver or flat chisel just doesn’t.

works well, feels well made. The metal surfaces that come into contact with your brake pistons, is flat and smooth with no irregular surfaces to mar, scratch, or otherwise damage your piston when trying to press them back in the caliper.

This is a quality tool, definitely worth $20. Retracting the piston is important. But so is cleaning around the extended piston using Dot 5.1 and a Q-Tip. Being able to do this maintenance routinely will keep brakes from rubbing. A clean piston can be retracted, and then it will adapt to the brake pads properly.

I got tired of using plastic tire levers to reset brake caliper pistons. This is a hefty tool that pushes the pistons in easily. Not sure why I waited so long to purchase it, but am happy I did. I’ve used it twice in bleeding my MTB brakes for race season, and it’s worked great; better and easier than my previous solution.

J’utilisais avant cet outil un gros tournevis plat qui abimait les plaquettes, avec cet outil, le problème est réglé. Un peu cher pour un usage personnel mais la qualité est au rendez-vous.
