PetSafe Automatic Cat Litter Box With SmartSpin

As a pet sitter I believe this is my number one purchase this year. Amazing quality automatic litterbox for a very reasonable price. I found it very easy to assemble and setup. The app works smooth and provides very detailed info on how often it is being visited and cat’s weight. Petsafe did a great job on odor controlling. I am even thinking of moving the litter box to elsewhere from laundry room. It looks more like a part of the interior rather than a litter box. It is also so quiet that I was at first checking if it actually works (then I figured out that it does when app started showing me all kind of data). Oh yeah, it will fit a pretty big cat inside although looks very compact. Everything works as expected and I highly recommend this litter box if you sit a few cats at the same time.

First are these worth the money? Yes.

I have two of these for my four cats. I bought them within two weeks of each other and have had them about a month.

They aren’t perfect but they are much more convenient and less smelly than regular litter boxes.

Before, I was scooping poop daily to every other day out of four litter boxes. They would get smelly in a hurry because my cats aren’t bright and don’t always bury their poop……and I also had to do full litter changes quite often. So it was costing a lot to keep them clean.

With these, I change out the bags about twice a week and just add a few cups of litter. These use considerably less litter and with the amount of $ I’m saving on cat litter, these things will pay for themselves in 6-8 months.

That said, they aren’t perfect. I’ve given up keeping them connected to the WIFI. They won’t stay online. It’s so incredibly annoying to pay so much for something and one of the features not work. I’ve seen numerous comments about this from other reviews and hope Pet Safe will get its act together.

Also, sometimes poop or litter clumps will stick to the walls of the thing and not drop into the bin. So if you buy these, hold on to you litter scooper—you’re still going to need it.

Speaking of the walls of the thing, you’re going to need to wipe them down occasionally. You’re also going to need to wipe down the grate thingy too because bits of litter will get stuck to it as well.

Also, keep a mat outside of the litter box. Sometimes the clumps bounce out of this thing into the floor.

I do like the convenience of it though overall. It does need some fine-tuning. Maybe future models will be better.

It would be neat if they could offer just a regular version that doesn’t have wifi connections or an app. It can cut manufacturing costs and pass the savings on to the customer. That part of it doesn’t work anyway so what is the point in having it?

Anyway, as far as noise goes, it runs pretty quiet. It does beep when a cleaning cycle is complete but that’s not a dealbreaker.

Overall, they are worth the cost for the convenience because the basic functions work and that’s why I was buying this anyway.

My cat poops as if he were a grown man instead of a regular-sized tri-pawd cat. Scooping his litter was so easy to neglect because of the stench and wanting to be far away from it.. And now I can leave the task for just about 2 weeks! He has always adjusted well and quickly to new litter boxes or actual litter, and he was keen to start using this one. I let his old litterbox get filthy so he had a transition period, but I don’t know if he really needed it.
It’s a good size for my small laundry room, and my cat doesn’t struggle climbing into it despite missing a hind leg. It’s a bit of an adjustment learning to clean it, but I’ve had it for just about a month and recently completed the first deep clean. It is a little annoying to take apart for the big clean, but I switched crystal litter to clumping litter hoping I can reduce the frequency of the deep clean. I have a hard time finding replacement deodorizers, but so far I haven’t found a huge difference going without them. The app is handy too, lots of how-to threads to help when things aren’t working right (for me, that was not remembering how to turn on add litter mode.)
Highly recommend, I’d rather have an infrequent deep clean than scooping every day. I am happier because of this!
