Honestly, the one without the bag/waste compartment runs smoother than this one. This thing is janky. The rake frequently gets stuck on the waste compartment and it smears wet litter into the edges and sides so I have to frequently clean it anyway. The waste compartment doesn’t really have much of a filter to keep in smell like the nicer quality self cleaning litter boxes I’ve used before. It’s rather pricey, too. I wanted to return it and invest the money into something else. I wasn’t expecting to be so unsatisfied with it and broke down/recycled the box it came in since the box was huge. I wound up requesting a refund after about 3 weeks of struggling with it, except it took me a week to find a box this large, clunky thing could fit in to return it and in that week, my return qr code expired. Such a waste all around. UPDATE: literally the day after I wrote this, it broke. Now the rake will not do a full sweep and return. It sweeps into the waste box and gets stuck on nothing. The box blinks blue, the rake occasionally gives a twitch, and the box loudly beeps at me. I have to manually push the rake back to the start position, but the next time it rakes, it again gets stuck in the waste box. I spent $250 to basically have a small manual cleaning litter box that I clean myself, but requires MORE babysitting than the same size $10 manual scoop box I can get at any store with a pet section. Video is just to show that the rake is indeed stuck and not just slow.

El arenero cumple su función, limpia muy bien y es muy práctico. Es muy alto ese sería el único problema pero es muy grande y entran gatitos de cualquier tamaño

The first one I was sent did not work after one litter change – might have been user error. They quickly sent a replacement. I do wish is box had the option of a roof/enclosure and ran a little quieter. My other qualm is that it seems to waste clean litter, but I love that I can use clumping litter in this box rather than crystals. I feel this has successfully remedied all cat stink in my home. I’m still giving 4/5 stars because my issues are minor, and this is their first version of the product! I am confident they will make improvements over time. (P.S. I only have one polite male cat)
Edit: It has been 2 months. I am really happy with the litter box. I paired it with the worlds best litter + baking soda and a litter genie, and I feel like I have conquered most any litter stench in my home. Very happy with it, and happy to not be using litter trays/crystals anymore.

This is my third automatic litter box and overall it’s the best I’ve had. I had the PetSafe ScoopFree that used crystals for almost 10 years but got tired of the high price of crystal litter and hated when it got tracked throughout the house. I tried another automatic box that used clumping litter and in less than two months it had power issues but luckily Amazon refunded it so I went with this PetSafe version. The cats seem to like the clumping litter better which is great and I can go about 7-10 days without touching it. Does some litter get stuck in the rake, yes. Does it pick up every single clump, no. Those two things get people to hate this but overall no litter box is perfect and this still allows me to be hands free and then do a minimal two minute clean up every 7 or 10 days for two cats which is much better than scooping litter every day. I do wish they sold trash bags that fit the compartment as I ended up buying larger bags to fit the width and it just has a lot of extra bag which makes it harder to close.

I just received this litter box because my cat has always used a robotic cleaning litter box. He is eight and has had one for almost his entire life. When it broke, I found out the one I had was discontinued. I’ve been looking for something similar for a long time. He only likes his specific clumping litter. I was excited when I found this option I ordered it, set it up through the other litter box out. It worked great the first scoop, and then after that, the whole system crashed by getting stuck where it is supposed to dump the litter out I have tried to contact Amazon. They told me they were going to send me instructions of what to do. I have yet to hear anything. I’m very frustrated since I spent a lot of money on this item. And still unsure what to do

I’ve initiated a return. I thought this would be an upgrade from my beloved crystal version from this brand (the crystal trays are just too expensive for us!). This product is absolutely not fit for purpose – I have spent so much more time cleaning this “self cleaning” cat litter than I ever would have a traditional one. And it stinks! It does not work with ANY cat litter despite claiming the complete opposite. I have tried two brands of clumping (Catsan and PooWee) and then when those proved still stinky I thought I’d try crystals. I actually haven’t had it fault once as far as the mechanics of it go (I have read reviews that said it would get stuck), the motor seems strong and sturdy. I don’t think it’s too loud either, a touch louder than the crystal version, but nothing too annoying. But the reviews that say it pushes clean litter into the tray are 100% accurate, no matter if you under-fill it, clogging it up with no room to do its job. It needs constant emptying, constant topping up, and even then – it constantly stinks! I wish I could afford the upkeep of the Petsafe Scoopfree Crystal version I have as that one is truly amazing, but it looks like it’s back to a regular litter box for me!

I have five cats, so we go through a lot of litter. I am always looking for new ways to streamline my routine. So one of those ways was getting the original scoop free litter boxes. In order to extend the life of my litter, I got the reusable pans, and physically scooped their “leavings” out of the compartment twice a day. I also lined the litter boxes with baking soda for extra odor control and use a combination of Arm and Hammer litter box deodorizers and fresh step crystals to fight the feces smell for those little tiny bits that the grate sometimes leaves behind that are impossible to scoop out. My biggest complaint was that even though I had six original scoop free litter boxes for five cats (expensive, I know), that the “poop containers” would fill up so quickly and stink up the house, even when I was emptying them consistently once or twice a day. Also, the grate itself would get filthy, and there was no way to remove it to properly clean it. The box was also very low to the ground and didn’t have much depth, so the litter scatter was everywhere all the time and forced me to have to change it more often because all the litter was soiled with urine, and because the depth was so thin, it made it super noticeable to both me and my cats that it was time to change the litter.
It seems that Petsafe was basically reading my mind with this new model they put out for the clumping litter box. I still opted to use crystals for it because I prefer them over clay which leaves dust all over the house, but I love the option to use clay if I want to. This new box is larger than the previous box, and deeper. The sides are a bit taller, so I would recommend a step of some kind for smaller kittens to get into, but because its taller, I do notice far less scatter than I had with the previous model. Instead of scooping the poop to the other end of the litter box, it actually scoops it into a drawer to make it more accessible to dump more often without having to open the entire box to get to it. The “poop storage” drawer is actually much bigger, so it can actually go longer without dumping, but I still choose to dump it daily. And finally my favorite part, the grates COME OUT! Those filthy grates that were the bane of my existence in the previous model finally come out, and guess what, they are dishwasher safe! I recommend cleaning your dishwasher with dishwasher cleaner after you try this hack, but every couple of days, I take all the grates, put them in the dishwasher, set it and forget it for about an hour. Then just reinstall them, and press the button to grab all the leavings that your cats did while they were in the cycle. They are clean, sanitized, and no longer need to be scrubbed maliciously with a scrub brush. My life could not be more streamlined and happy with this new model.
My ONLY grievance with this is the pan and the drawer are not considered dishwasher safe (I asked Petsafe), and that they did away with the LED counter they had on the previous model so I can keep track of which litter boxes they are using the most easily. Hope they add these features into future models. I have sent the company my feedback on it. But honestly, I just take the pans and the drawers to the shower, spray them down with Lysol and shower them off with hot water. Takes about five minutes, and most of that time is just drying them off and preparing the litter back in the pan.
In all honestly I find these litter boxes way easier to clean and maintain. I am extremely happy with them. My cats also seem to enjoy having a deeper litter box to do their business in. I am extremely happy with my purchase. I originally purchased two to replace the two kitchen ones just to test, but ended up buying four more to replace the others after just a couple of days of using the new ones. Yes, pricey expense, but the investment was totally worth it to me. The time saving element alone was worth it. I am single, live alone, work full time, and have five cats. Anything I can do to get a little extra time back is a blessing.
Also, with these new boxes, I have been able to extend the life of my litter significantly. I have gone to changing the litter once every two weeks instead of once a week, which saves a tremendous amount of money for me personally on my cat budget. I went from spending over $800/mo on crystal litter to spending about $200. Keep in mind I am an absolute clean freak, so as soon as I walk by the box and catch a whiff, I am changing the box that day. Some people get nose blind but I am super sensitive to it and literally cannot wait once I smell start to smell it.
Anyone who is a clean freak like me, I highly recommend this box to streamline your routine. I feel like each box will be good for up to two cats. But I have always used the rule of one box for each cat plus one. I also still have two standard boxes on top of that just to give them options, but they generally don’t use them as much as they use the scoop free ones.
I also used Klarna through their app if that helps anyone else budget wise.
Anyway, hope you liked my review.

At last, no more icky daily scooping! Unit does what i says it can and even my cat loves it. Cleaner and less smell for her. I manage things when it’s storage area/bin looks about 75% full after a week and just empty it into a paper shopping bag and bin it. Be sure to use a good quality clumping litter as you want it to form and be firm asap. Also litter is not wasted so it last much longer. Keep a scoop and brush handy to landscape and touch up. Very little tracking. Can be a little noisy sometimes after a late night visit but what can you do? Cats be cats.

This works fantastic. I like that I don’t have to buy special pans, litter, bags, etc etc like all of the rest I’ve seen. This is the first one I’ve found where I can use the same clumping litter I buy and prefer to use. I have 3 cats and they were a bit freaked out the first time they saw it do its magic but it didn’t stop them from using it. The dogs have lucked out a couple times being in the right place at the right time and managed to score themselves a treat before the raking cycle began. This has cut the dogs having their way with the litter box by about 90% which just as great as not having to scoop anymore. I highly recommend this!!!
