The amount of chips in this is amazing! it took some time to absorb water, but its not as stringy as other say it is, actually perfect amount, chips are big and hold moisture perfectly! 5/5

I have been raising snakes a lot of my life and I have always gotten bad advise on keeping humidity stable in a tank. A friend recommended this product to me because two of my snakes were having rough sheds. When I received the package I was convinced I had not bought enough for 3 tanks. Followed the instructions given to me both by my friend and their website, and was shocked how much the substrate grew once water was added. More than enough to replace the substrate in 3 tanks. You can visibly see that the substrate is humid without it feeling soggy or potentially harmful. Time will tell I suppose but already feel the quality was far superior than anything I’ve ever used. Kudos!

Watched the video of best way to soak it and it was so easy. Great quality and quantity

I have been using eco earth for awhile for my ball pythons and blue tongue skink. However, a few months back I attempted to use the zoo med forest floor bedding mixed with eco earth and all of my reptiles contracted mites from it that wouldn’t go away for months.
This is the first substrate my reptiles have been put on since having a mite infestation and I cannot day enough good things about it. Since I have reptiles that need a higher humidity, this substrate was perfect! It held a very high humidity for about a WEEK after I put it into their enclosures! I now have to spray it about once a day in order to keep the humidity high enough, but that is still much less than I would have to do if my reptiles were still on eco earth. My reptiles absolutely love this bedding as do I. It provides a nice smell, great texture, and is not dusty. The substrate was very easy to expand as well and makes a LOT of product for a great price. I would spend much more on eco earth trying to fill all of my enclosures when this one block filled both of my 20 gallons, and my over five foot vision cage. I HIGHLY recommend this product to reptile keepers, especially if you struggle with keeping humidity up. This was my first time purchasing this and I will be buying this from now on!

I have only had this product a few days and it is amazing! I have two ball pythons. Each one is in an enclosure about 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 2 feet tall. I have humidifiers set up for both as they are a reptile that enjoys higher humidity and struggled to keep it at 50% humidity in the cage. On top of this I was refilling the humidifiers every two or three days. Since covering half of the enclosure floor with this substrate I am easily maintaining a humidity of 60% and have yet to refill the humidifiers (its been 3 days). This product is easy to rehydrate and works wonders. Highly recommend!

Great value for money and last long time. Easy to spot clean.

I use this in my ball python enclosure and it works very well at holding humidity for a long time. No mold growth so far. Chips are not sharp so you don’t need to worry about splinters like other reptile bedding. Shipping was quick but box was very heavy if you buy 3. One bag fills up a 4x2x2. You will find some plastic pieces here and there but no biggie

I only use this for my Snakes. It’s clean, hygienic, and they love it.

La estoy usando para el terrario de una piton bola y me ha funcionado muy bien

A little expensive (though understandable given the quality) and rather slow delivery (though as it comes from the US rather than the UK, also understandable!) But all in all this stuff is great.
I was able to make the batch up a couple days ago and after storing in a reasonably sized storage container, this stuff is said to last indefinitely and not mold as long as you mix it about every few days.
It feels and smells extremely clean and isn’t dusty, doesn’t give splinters and is relatively simple to make though I’d advise having a 50L storage box on hand and making it all at the same time.
No instructions on how much water to add but I’ve found if you tear open the bag and add the water straight into it that seems to work! Absorbs water AMAZINGLY and easy to control the amount of water you add too. I was worried that it would up the humidity in my corn snake vivarium to 100% (as I’ve used a different brand before that did so) but it was very easy to make it expand but also not be sopping wet.
Also brilliant for ball python vivariums too (the reason I bought it in the first place) as you can add as much water as you need and it’ll keep on absorbing.
A lot of waffle in the end from me but if there’s one take away, it’s that this stuff is the good stuff and if the delivery wasn’t so slow I’d probably make it my normal brand!

My photo I added is the product mixed in with other things to make a potting mix, but I also showed some pieces of it separate in the second photo. It’s been handy to get coco chips that aren’t uniform I’m size to allow for better drainage. It’s comes as massive block, so I’ve just been breaking off bits as needed and I haven’t even made a dent making a batch of potting mix (normally I’d have used half my supplies). It’s definitely worth the money and will last me a very long time). I’d imagine, if you use this with reptiles, it’d look nice and natural and it’s lightweight which is probably good for moving through. I really like how there’s some strands of coco husk (maybe?) in here as well. I like the look and consistency that it gives and how easy it is to blend sizes of amendments in my potting mix with this. I have also just noticed that coco husk/chips tend not to get mold the way that bark does, I assume it’s just more airy but either way it’s been great.

Breaks apart easily, even without using much water. Looks good in the tank, my corn snake seems to enjoy it. The breeder block was more than enough to fill my 72×18 tank a few inches deep.

This is a no nonsense product. Compressed coconut fiber to reduced wasteful forms of packaging, a single, semi-gloss sheet of paper to advertise it and some heavy duty plastic wrap to top it off. Sustainable? Yeah to an extent it is. I can’t speak for this individual manufacturer but as an Agricultural Scientist by trade, I will say there are ways to make it sustainable.
If we’re to be honest, coconut husk is mold resistant but not mold PROOF (There is a difference, visit USDA.gov to learn more) Last block I bought I could not dry quickly enough, and the whole block was wasted.
I would make sure to read the directions carefully. “Lightly spray” not, “Completely drench”.
Just enough to break stuff up. It requires a little elbow grease but someone who owns reptiles or any other animal that can live on this substrate should not be unfamiliar with a little work when cleaning cages properly.
Is it clean? Yeah, it’s not bad. When you break it up it will create dust. LOTS.
LET’S BE HONEST, any naturalish substrate you buy will have dust. Nature of the material, unless you use sheets of heavy paper or paper towels.
IS IT SAFE? Sure it is. Granted, some animals are more susceptible to subcutaneous inflammation (redness on surface of the skin) than others, so keep a careful watch. I have noticed my Reticulated Pythons exhibiting some inflammation after spraying their cages down in the morning and evening. With adjustments to water amount and heat, this can easily be resolved.
As someone who has performed research with reptiles on a collegiate level I like this substrate. It does well but 8 times out of 10 you’ll find any other brand of coconut husk to work just as well. But the compression, sustainability and eye for reducing costs of packaging just shows good business practice.
Mainly why I buy it…..Also relatively inexpensive.
