Nothing but the honest truth –
The pictures are for the Selmer Concept mouth piece and it is not from the Selmer S80 C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece. This is a fraud
Jared S. –
My so has said this is so much better than many other brands. he loves it for marching band and jazz band! what a great buy if you have a Tenor Sax!
Monterey Mike –
I bought this Selmer C* about a year and a half ago as I was looking for a mouthpiece that would be good for both classical and jazz as I was new at the soprano……since that time I played only a little classical and mostly straight ahead jazz…..the mouthpiece performs great ! I’m using a rico royal #3 and getting a great tone in all registers…..it’s a little expensive, around $95 or so…….but it’s worth it, whether you play classical, jazz or just want to play the soprano with a mouthpiece that performs well ……I couldn’t be more satisfied. Monterey Mike
Audreysax –
This is a great soprano sax mouthpiece, but it will not fit an alto sax. The description of the product is incorrect.
my take –
This is so much better than the Rico that came with my sax..looks about the same except for a tiny difference…but the sound difference is great…easier to hit highs and lows and play longer. I noticed also it’s easier to play quieter.
spotty –
I liked the price. Picture shows concept, but description says s80 c alto , I got a soprano one. I just kept it as a back up for my soprano. Still plays good on the soprano, nice a clean, with ok projection. It is not a clean as my sepia tone, and not as powerful as my yanagisawa metal, but it’s a good inbetween mouthpiece.
Heavy Theta –
Like an idiot I left my horn leaning somewhere and my old, old Selmer mouthpiece got chipped. No use thinking too hard about it, the only thing to do was to get another. The C* is the classic warm horn mouthpiece for the soprano. Not “duck-like” if you know what I mean. And it’s about as easy on the mouth as these punishing little beasts get. (In my heyday I gigged an Otto Link Metal 8*, which still digs in, but plays havoc with my oral health.)
No matter what style you’re aiming for, this is either the only piece you need, or at least one of two you keep in the case.

Easy blowing, easy to control, and I like the voice I project through it.
