I just got today and it is threatening storms outside so just initial at this point. I am guessing on value rating until I actually take on the road.
1. What do you receive:
a. The helmet.
b. A clear (bluish tint) pinlock 120 (highest rating) fog/condensation resistant lens insert.
c. charging cable, USB-type A to magnetic 6 pin connector (no danger to cord if a klutz like me).
d. 2 boom microphone sponges
e. 2 sponge covers for speakers
f. 1 dummy cover chin curtains
g. 1 magnetic to usb type c adapter – convert the power cable to a usb type A to USB type C cable.
h. 1 inflatable helmet cushion for setting the helmet on.
i. 1 helmet bag.
j. 1 bag for helmet cushion when deflated.
k. 2 copies of “Impulse certification and safety approvals” in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Korean. Need magnifying glass. The Korean is just enough to let you know there must be a document somewhere else.
l. “Safety Precautions” in English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian. Need magnifying glass
m. “Simple Quick Start Guide” in English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian. Tells how to pair with another device and then says go to Sena.com for any more help.
2. The sizing feels a small. I measured as indicated on the Sena site 3 times because I normally wear a XL or a XXL. My head does fit in and it is VERY snug, but hopefully road noise will be much less especially when I turn on the Noise Cancelling feature.
3. Not sure I like the ratcheting chin strap, will have to get used to this feature.
4. There is a complete manual on Sena.com at “https://firmware.sena.com/senabluetoothmanager/UsersGuide_IMPULSE_1.8.0_en_230727.pdf”. The manual appears will have everything I wish to know and more.
5. Removing and installing the face shield was very easy when I added the pinlock insert.
6. The modular chin guard must be lowered and set in place with a tug. This may loosen with use.
7. Opening the helmet up was a bit scary the first time after putting it on. I thought I was going to have to call 911. I then practiced without it on for a while before trying again.
8. The speakers appear very loud, not sure if turned all the way up but I can hear very well with 69 year old ears exposed to decades of loud pipes and high wind noise.
9. I really like the extra rear tail light built into the helmet.
