Love playing this harp. Sound is loud with lots of room for modulation. It came bubble wrapped with a piece of paper rubber banded around the frame. At first I thought that the paper was usage or some kind of care instructions. Upon further inspection however, it was a torn piece of a coffee machine user’s manual. Weird.

The harp plays well, and you can produce a wide variety of sound. Very enjoyable and after maybe an hour with it you will start getting a feel even if you have never picked one up. The trigger is blackened from heat/ bending and there lute is a bit spotty (not sure what that could be…?) but it’s clean and sounds great.

Anyways, the harp, which is what you are paying for, is pleasant, but the packaging is very strange.

Over the years, I have collected several jaw harps — mostly inexpensive Grover Austrian models, but I have a couple of quality ones and a set of dan mois of unknown providence. This one is instantly king of the crop. It is several times louder than any of the others, and it has the most precise trigger (the bit you twang). My tuner tells me it is tuned dead on to A.

The build on this thing is marvelous. Its body is built out of a solid slab of nicely polished stainless steel. The reed sits flush to the front of the body. The space behind the reed is chambered and the gaps between the arms and the reed are really tight. This is a long harp, but it is really stable; the arms don’t pinch the reed. Also, the rolled trigger slips off the finger smoothly in both directions. All of these characteristics make the harp a joy to hold and play.

I see some reviews saying this is not good for a beginner. I question that. I can clank it by playing sloppily, but that is true of all of my harps, even the Austrians which have a huge gap between the arms and reed. On the other hand, you can buy five or six of those for the price of this one, and have yourself a more versatile, if much quieter, set.

I finally decided that I was ready to upgrade my cheap amateur jaw harp, and I couldn’t be happier. This is a beautiful jaw harp, precisely cut / milled, with a very tight fitting reed / tongue (that’s important), and most importantly, excellent sound and sensitivity! My particular model sounds like a mezzo, which was lower than I’m used to but still very happy to have. The trigger is also well designed, being round and accessible, allowing for more manipulations.

One thing that I’m on the fence on is the placement of the tongue. I am used to thumb muting, but the tongue is on the farthest outside edge, requiring finger muting; that will be a new skill to learn and currently feels awkward.

Overall, I’m very happy with this precisely crafted instrument; I recommend it to everyone.

    Absolutely amazing!
I am a Blues artist that was wanting to add a little Jews Harp to a couple tracks for effect sounds. However, once this harp showed up, it took me about 30 seconds to realize that this harp is technically way ahead of every other harp I’ve ever touched.
This harp has now taken a serious place on my new record. It is featured as a rhythm, bass, and percussion instrument on my record.
What’s amazing is that I am finding great new places to feature this incredible harp.

Greta construction, amazing sound design, and truly a real serious instrument with amazing abilities.

Don’t buy one, buy two. You will want this thing wherever you go.

This Jew’s Harp by Glazyrin is one of the best I have ever played in 4 decades of love affairs with this quirky instrument.
The stainless steel manufacturing is superb quality – tolerances between the tang and two arms are so tight I thought it would be a problem – in fact, you realise how tight when you tilt the instrument only a few degrees downwards and get that tell-tale metal-on-metal vibrating. Held in correct position, its a dream to play. Having the central tang mounted using two high quality stainless steel Torx screws just tells me its top quality.
Even the end of the tang, an area where cheaper harps just leave it unfinished and prone to catch on clothing or get bent – Glazer’s design is stunning – the tang end protrudes only 2cm out at a perfect 90 degrees and is finished in a tight ball – I’m already planning a little cedar carry case for it (although these are also available).
Ergonomically, having a very long section to hold works for me – especially in longer drawn-out playing.
With any musical instrument, beautiful design always make a difference – this looks elegant and sitting on my desk right now, keeps distracting my eye!
Sound-wise: beautifully rich tones and a volume level that just surprised me completely! Its a very user-friendly feeling and invites a strong playing style. Its a winner!

    D. Glazyrin: you rock!!
