I’ve been voluntarily bald for about 3 years, during which time I’ve gone through a bunch of razors and tested several Freebird type options. I typically shave every other day as I prefer a smooth dome over a stubbly one. I’d been looking for non-permanent hair removal options to break up how often I drag a razor over my head – that’s what lead me to this cream. With a rating under 4 stars on Amazon, I was not terribly optimistic. Still, I gave it a shot. On the plus side, the test did not result in any irritation. So I slathered this all over my dome the next day. I should note that my scalp was stubbly, not long; it was about the length you would have if you used a beard trimmer on your scalp. In any case, this cream did nothing, and I gave it the full 7 minutes. Needless to say I was disappointed. The instructions say if any hair remains after the first application, you can reapply 24 hours later. I am skipping this guidance as this cream did not remove any hair. However, now I am torn on returning this or throwing it away.

I’ve used other Magic Shave products, they work…I do have to keep it on the full 7 minutes or so for it to be effective on my hair. I’ve tried it twice and it works for the most part. Skin feels as if you’ve rubbed Mentholatum on it as pores can feel open, however, that’s the ‘Magic activating’. I’ll continue to use for that close shave. I recommend taking your time with this products use, FOLLOW the directions and mind the time, you’ll be fine. And to think, the smell used to be worse.😆

I don’t know why this product has so many low reviews…I have very sensitive skin, and I have no issues with this product, different time limits to keeping the cream on will work for different people, 4 minutes didn’t work for me, how I use it: after applying the cream, I wash my hands then start the timer for 7 minutes, I found this time to be the sweet spot for me…find yours.
If the product don’t work for you, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad product, it’s just not for you, try another one, too many low reviews for stupid reasons.

I’ve been using Magic Shave since I was 17yrs old. I am now 62 yrs old. I have never had a problem with this product. I have left this product on my head for 15 to 20 mins and have not had one problem. I use an old knife to take it off. The instructions says not to scrape it off but I’ve been scraping it off for years. This product is not for all people. I guess I’ve been using it for so long it doesn’t bother me. My head feels soft and smooth like a baby’s bottom. My hair grows back quick, so I use it once a week. I think the trick is you have to have a certain length of hair to use it. I use the powder also, but I use it twice a week. You cannot use this product everyday. Hope this helps someone.

I was looking for a razorless alternative to using razors to keep my head smooth other than razors. I did a Google search and many websites pointed to this product. Razorless Cream Shave for Bald Head by SoftSheen Carson was recommended on many websites so I decided to give it a shot.
After prepping my head and following instructions, I dabled a thing layer on a small area to see how would my scalp react to it. After leaving it for the recommended 4 minutes and wiping it off, it was able to remove most of the hairs where I applied the cream and only left me with a small itching sensation.
Be aware that many people will react differently from no reaction to burns so DON’T skip this step.
I then began to apply it on the rest of my head, but I left it a bit longer to about 8-10 minutes. After time passed, I grabbed a small towel and filled the bathroom sink with some warm to hot water (not boiling) to help me remove the cream.
After wiping the solution off, I noticed that it was able to remove most of of the hairs on my head and without any other problems, at least most of my head. In a small area in the front of my head, it left a reddish area that was burning a bit but it went away after several minutes.
There were a few small areas where hair stubble remained and added a bit of cream again and repeated the process as above. It removed most of that remaining hair from my head.
There are my overall opinions on it:
Pro: It works in removing most of the head hair leaving it with a smooth look and feel that even the sharpest of razors cannot do. The cream is easy to apply and to remove.
Cons: It does have a smell like most hair removal solutions, but it is not very overpowering. It doesn’t remove all the hair 100% so you may need to apply a bit more or just use a sharp razor. Depending on your skin, might leave you with an unpleasant itching or even burning areas so please don’t skip the testing step.
Overall I liked this hair removal product and I will but it another time when I run out. I will continue to use it carefully.
Remember, results will vary depending on the person so please do a little test and read all the instructions.
If I could I would give it 3.5-3.8 stars out of 5 stars.

Product may not be suitable for all users. I fully shave my head every other day with a razor. I originally purchased this product in wanting to expedite my morning shower routine. Being a technical and specification geek I throughly read the instructions being I did not want any adverse effects to my skin. As directed I applied a fairly thick layer to my scalp, hair growth at the time of application was just below a stubble. During the application process I fully sensed a tingling sensation throughout my scalp, with this I had high expectations this cream was truly working. After applying throughly the cream I washed my hands and then set a timer for exactly 4 minutes. Product was moist during the entire 4 minute duration. At the 4 minute mark I utilized a damp cloth and wiped away a small area toward the front of my scalp. No evidence of hair follicles on the cloth, I continued to press forward by allowing this cream bake on my moon like cratered head for another 3 minutes. 7 minutes is the maximum threshold you can keep this cream on your skin. iPhone stop watch goes off again at the 7 minute mark. I’m now feeling uneasy being it feels like my scalp had been subjected all you can eat Buffet for Texas fire ants. During the final cleanup, no evidence of hair being dissolved. It has been three days since the first and only trial of this product had been tested, my scalp is currently sensitive to both hot and cold water. I have slight spot blemishes on my scalp, depending on the lighting my scalp has a Leopard print now. In conclusion this product found its way into the trash can, I will continue to utilize the tried and true razors.

Wanted to try this out on my legs instead and it works really well, but it did take a lot of product in order to get the whole surface. Did sting a little bit (no cuts). But did last for at least a week so its worth it!
