One of the strings had become bent during transit and the bridge had come loose but it’s easily fixable and sounds great! The strings sit a bit higher than I’m used to, maybe because the bridge sits in a holder rather than right on the violin but I can probably have someone sand it down a bit if I need to. This is my first electric violin and I am well pleased with it!

I would have given this 4 stars but after barely 2 weeks of use, the amp port gave up (so then 1 star). And since Amazon did replace it although with the wrong color – ordered metallic black and they replaced with a sparkly dark blue – I upped it by 2 stars. The blue is really pretty so we’ll deal.

We will see if this lasts. My son loves it so far and has a lil JamBox that he plugs into during band room practice and the school has a Shure PGX14 wireless transmitter receiver for field use.

Here’s hoping for 4 year durability. I’d really love for this the last all of high school.

So, first off, I pull it out of the package and go to tighten the strings and tune it, it doesn’t have a G string, it came with two D strings. I snap it thinking its just needs to be tightened a bit more. I go buy new strings, and the bridge slips, 4 times before I can get it to sit properly while tightening and tuning the strings. Pegs are loose to begin with, I push them in and tune and they’re lose and causing the strings to be out of tune again by the time I finish tuning the 3 other strings. One of the slots where the string fits into on the tail piece was bent inwards, so it was difficult to get the old string out and new string in.

Bow came with about half the hair it should have.

The upside was, aside from the issues at play, setting up would have been easy. It couldn’t be heard through my walls, which are thin, and it has decent sound quality IF you can work past these issues when trying to play it.

Looks the part but if you are a violinist you’ll soon realise it (mine anyway) is badly made: the alignment of the strings on the fingerboard is too close making it almost unplayable and the peg box is too small to widen the strings on the nut. Best to try the instrument in a shop before buying!

but this product is overprice. it should be sold for 200$.
the headphone and the strap, you wont use it.
the bed where the bridge stand in, is just pinned in and can slip arround.
so you have to glued it in place or remove it a put anti slip tape for the bridge.

I bought this for my son, whose been playing an acoustic violin for 3 years. He loves it! He plays it just like a regular violin, but is having so much fun experimenting with new sounds. The quality is great for such a reasonably priced instrument!

I was very excited to play even though I received it a few days late.. Looks very nice but doesn’t stay tuned for longer than 30, 45 min. Head phones are garbage!!!

This is my first electric (been playing acoustic for years). Seems pretty nice. Headphone jack on back is handy; I can play without worrying about waking up my sleeping toddler. Bow is wood and horsehair. Still trying to work enough rosin into it I think. Have to scuff the rosin or you just can’t get any into the bow. Mine was missing a string (as advertised). I put artisan strings on. Gives me a rattle on the D, but the sound is fine. Maybe different brand would have been better. Overall I’m pleased and would recommend this, at least for starters.

El violín es pesado, las cuerdas y la pastilla no son buenas. Lo mejor de este violín es el diseño y el mini ecualizador.

I ordered the Stagg EVN 4/4 MRD on April 2nd and received it on April 6th. Within one hour of delivery I opened, inspected, and photographed the product. As you can see in the photos, mold is on the chin rest, pegs, peg box, and underneath the scroll.

I unlatched the velcro that was holding the neck and beneath is a rectangle compartment with the headphones and cable. Under that are 2 desiccant silica gel packs.

There are no paper inserts or booklet of any kind supplied, except for a tag attached to one of pegs that has the logo on one side and on the other side is the UPC barcode with a brief warranty statement directing to the manufacturer’s website.

One-third of the bow hairs are caught under the latch holding it in place, and after delicately trying to remove it, one of hairs broke. There are minor mother of pearl details on the frog (“eyes” on both sides and the slide).

The bridge was preinstalled and not at a 90° angle. The heart, wings, and kidneys looks rough and would need sanding.

I have emailed Stagg/EMD Music (as listed on their customer support page from the website mentioned in the aforementioned tag ) and they responded quickly in 20 minutes to offer a FedEx return shipping label and a violin replacement. I accepted this offer and was informed it would be inspected before the replacement is shipped.

I’ve always wanted to play the violin as a kid and I got this as a birthday present to myself. It’s a bummer to receive a new violin in such a state and I was looking forward to spending my birthday learning how to play it.

I am pleased at how quick my interaction with Stagg/EMD Music has been so far. FedEx has the violin now. I’ll update my review and stars after I receive my replacement.

I have been playing the violin for 7 years and know what I’m talking about. No offense, but your comment isn’t worth really anything. To begin the violin comes with the classic 1/4in amp cable, cheap rosin, an okay totally unrosined bow, a really decent case,
and a set of your $5.00 head phones, the violin comes FULLY ASSEMBLED but insanely out of tune. KEEP IN MIND THE BRIDGE
WILL POP EASILY CAREFUL WHEN TUNING. As to the playing quality the bridge makes the strings too close, and it takes some time getting used to. Sounds great amplified, and the on- board controls are high(treble), low(base), and volume. This violin is marked as Aggressive because it requires a 9volt battery(included). Aggressive violins are said to have better ranges in frequencies and are more expensive because of this. I will admit I’m not an expert in the electric violin area and if someone wants to add please do!
