This was the only sort of fine tooth hand saw that I could find on the internet. This saw has 12 teeth to the inch. All others seemed to be 8 or so teeth to the inch. I was really looking for something even finer, but could not find it on the internet. So I went ahead and bought this one. More money than the 8 teeth per inch saws, but this is the one I wanted and needed. It took a very long time for delivery. It came from Washington state, delivery to New York City. It took 12 days for delivery. I order it on March 29th, not delivered until April 9th.

Great hand saw. The most important thing really is the grip and sharpness. I do a lot of wood cutting at night so I opted for a hand saw over using my electric one. This one is very sharp and the teeth cut well. The handle has a nice grip and feel to it as well. The overall size is average I’d say. Not too large and not too small. I have no concerns about this, I think it’ll last quite a while.

This saw makes crosscuts in softwood fast and straight, I prefer it to a circular saw for most work. Also works well in plywood. Don’t get me wrong this doesn’t replace a full size circular saw for production work but when I am making single custom cuts throughout the day nothing is more portable and faster then a good hand saw … and this is a good hand saw.
To go with this saw I recommend purchasing the ‘Husky 15″ hand saw with scabbard’, throw away the saw (it’s garbage) and put the scabbard on this saw. The most common reason saws like this fail is they become damaged by rough handling. The teeth are easily damaged if they come into contact with a metallic object and the scabbard protects them. One of these kept in a scabbard will last me a year or more with frequent use.

I purchased this saw to cut branches downed by a number of storms late winter and early spring. It cuts beautifully. Its the right size for my female hands. I clean any sap prior to putting it away so it will be ready for its next use. I have used it 5 or 6 times so far with excellent results.

Its a fine comfortable saw, its light, its small and convenient and it does what is says its supposed to do which believe it or not sometimes isn’t the case for some products.
The handle is as described, its ergonomic, well, at least for me it is, since I don’t give it heavy use, I have given it 10 to 15 minutes of use every other day or so.
it does have more teeth for quicker cutting but its not for a smooth cut, maybe with careful sawing it will be a cleaner cut than with other saws with less teeth but its not a precision saw by any means.

This is a perfect saw for my small hands. I found the padded grip was not weakly spongy in a way that requires more grip, but that it was cushioned just enough not to tear into a healing blister area without a bandaid on my thumb. It is very light and strong and accurate and comes super sharp. Made quick work of some vines that were invading the carport. Very fine product. Others wanted more than the price of the item by far to come and do the few moments cutting so I just bought the tool and did my best. Saved lots of coin and now I have a fine tool for other jobs!

I purchased this saw to replace the Mastercraft from Canadian Tires. The Stanley is way better than the Mastercraft in sharpness and also more sturdy. The prices are the same for both. Cutting logs or 4×4 way faster now for me

It’s OK…
This was cheap so I thought I’d pick one up to compliment my Stanley FATMAX saw that I’ve used and abused for over 15 years. I’ve notice that my Stanley FATMAX was not cutting quite as well as when I first got it. I’ve cut dimensional lumber, pruned trees…even done some fine cross cuts with nice results. I couldn’t have asked for more.
I was hoping that this cheaper Stanley saw was in the same category – it’s not. At less than 9 bucks, it’s a decent saw but it’s not as sharp or as sturdy. The supposed “welded” handle is actually coming apart! I added a couple pics where you can see. This is right out of the box.
The Stanley FATMAX has a very sturdy wood handle – I’d guess hickory. I’ve got plenty of scrap oak laying around my shop and I’m going to make a nice, sturdy oak handle for this one which will make it stronger, more ergonomic, and dress it up some. I’ll also take some steel wool and turpentine to that plastic, urethane coating on the blade which should make it glide better through wood.
Bottomline: I would still recommend this to someone with only 9 bucks to spend on a saw but, if you need a really good, sharp, sturdy and long lasting cross cut saw – and you have a few extra bucks, then the Stanley FATMAX is a best buy.
