This pedal is the smoothest one in my collection. I have played them all over the course of a 30 year drumming career. To me this even beats DW as far as durability and useful features. A world class pedal you can be sure to own for the rest of your drumming career as long as it takes you.

1- A bit of HISTORY (you can skip)

After my DW 5000 started to act up on me, I decided to get another. Yet somehow was bothered that with no major upgrades, and so many other pedals hitting the market DWs were still priced as the big dog.

So I defided to wait and test the waters… in the meantime I got “gig pedals” under 100 usd. A simple Sonor… then I got a long board speed cobra, which was a mistake, but only because I don’t play heel up. I could appreciate the quality, better than the 5000 and cheaper. I sent it back, but gabe Tama a second shot… then I tested the waters on a Cobra 200, another under 100 dollars pedal. Now the Cobra 200 was not as smooth but pretty good. And it looked and felt more solid than a DW 5000. I was shocked.

2- SO FINALLY I ordered the 900 (Review)

This is by far the best value I have seen.
This pedal compares to a DW9000 not a 5000. And having played all three I dare say, it’s even better made. It looks more precise, better machined and has better materials.

Plus it comes with a proper case not some flimsy bag.

This pedal is smooth, perfect out of the box, solid, the new beater is great… I have almost never in 25 years left the beater that came with a pedal, using Danmar beaters mostly. But this, my 22” sounds beefy rounder.

This thing is over engineered like hell… just unflinchable, and the ONLY THING that Indid not like about these pedals, the clamping mechanism has been fixed or tweaked… it is now, somehow perfectly easy to get in.

I am so happy for this buy. Plus at around half the price of a 9000 and being as good a pedal… I cannot be happier with my decidion, which as you can see was not taken overnight.

This to me is the best bang for buck kick pedal to me. The quality is very good and so is the price.

It’s another quality tama product. If you like the older ones you’ll like this one more. It’s quick and controllable.

Nothing to dislike. I bought the pedal for my second bass drum to match the primary one.
