I have had a 100 gallon aquarium for last 16 years. I have gone through about 6-7 filters due to hard water. This is the easiest filter to set up and clean out. No buying expensive replacement filter. Clean out takes 5 minutes in the sink. It adds a lot of air to the water and does a good job cleaning up. I have had it in for about a month now and love it.

Caution- don’t buy too big for you tank. It does have a powerful jet to move a lot of water. Too much pressure in a small area can over stress your fish. Place it to one side of your tank so there are areas that don’t have strong currents to give fish a break and/or add areas(coves, plants, coral, decorations, for the fish to get out of the current.

2 month update- the suction cups suck and the filter continues to falls off and blow rocks and plants everywhere. Seems like it has lost power already and not picking up as well. We will see how long it lasts

I was using this for a 30 gallon. A bit too strong for this size but i figured a way to calm down the current for my fish. I love not having to buy new filters. Just wash these out. My only con is how the top part comes off and you have to becareful because when you take it apart the middle where the pin rod and motor is kind of falls apart and you dont want to lose anything. When you try to turn the top where the water flow comes out,you can only move it so much otherwise it unlockes it and comes off. I wish there was a way to lock it and still be able to turn the out going flow with out that worry. Like it should be seperate pieces. It is a great pump though.

Very quite, sucks up the mess but the water has a brownish tint since we got it. Water stays clear for a few days. Don’t like having to change the water constantly for it too look nice

I got the bigger sized pump even for my 20 gal tank because the smaller one I own (different brand) just is not strong at all. This one is WAY to strong. My baby turtle can’t even swim across is tank, needless to say if you need a very strong pump! This is for you! If you don’t, order the smaller size. Will review the smaller one friday!

50 gallon tank … I have the output pipe facing upwards, making a 1 ½ “ ‘fountain’, which my fish take turns to swim through as it lifts their bodies above the water surface. Hours of fun for us all. I put some floating plants halfway along the tank so that the other half of the water surface is still …. Oh, and yes, it keeps the water crystal clear, and is easy enough to clean (if I was redesigning it I would just make the filter section easier to pull off … ) So glad I bought it… would highly recommend.

I purchased the 40 gallon for my 29 gallon, it’s wide open west.
I have two goldfish. They range 6-7 inches with fins in length.
My two Tonka Trucks. This filter, the amount of power if pointed directly at them, could blow their scales off.
If you have small fish and a tank under 100 gallons, probably unwise to purchase/use this.
You could kill them. A turtle, naw, pass, Live turtles aren’t like the ones in Nemo, No.
I can’t figure out where the filtration is actually working.
I have had it running for 2 days. I took it apart to view the filters. There is a hole (window) where you can see inside the two casings. Nothing. Zero debris. My Tonka’s are messy, they are constant waste makers.
Where is the filtering? what is it filtering? or is it just a high volume water shooter?
The tubing that came with it, kinked, crap. The poor quality whatever it is to put on the tubing (?)
It’s not a valve that I can see. You don’t turn it, for flow control. What purpose it serves, I am clueless. I see images in reviews, people have it outside their tank, again Shrug. The suction cups cause irritation and anger, they are flimsy, and a TASK to put on. You cannot control the flow. What I did put on the end of the tubing, experimenting is a round ball air stone. It seemed to help. It’s either full blast or it’s dead when you alter the tube. I don’t know. It’s stress I could do without. Does it benefit my tank, I have no answers. If you have a Large capacity tank, want a wave maker, this should def do the job. I am going to search for an alternative, this is too much frustration, I do not want my fish injured.

This is the best pump I have ever had. Bought it for a 50 gallon tabk and it is on the lowest setting there is..very power..I see the difference in my fish, they are more active and riding the waves. I def will be buying more. Kinda curious as to why the smaller one is more expensive than this one, because I would love to get one of them.

There is nothing I don’t like about this filter. The current it creates for my fish brought them to life. Before they would swim around, yeah but with this filter it’s like they are in the wild again. They’re all over the place, living it up. You can adjust the amount it bubbles for oxygen. And it’s extra quiet. Last, but not least the filter is reusable easy assembly. If you have a big tank, I highly HIGHLY recommend this! Best price too.

Holy smokes, for once the advertised flow rate was legitimate, insane power. This has got to be the best bang for your buck in terms of flow rate and filtration capability.

Do not put this in a 40 gal unless youre trying to simulate white water rapids, the flow rate is not adjustable.

    Love this thing.

Keeps our tank super clean and clear. Has nice aeration and filtration as well as really keeps the water moving in the tank. Our fish loves to play in the current coming out of the pump. Will be buying more to put in our other tanks

i’ve got this for my 90 gallon turtle tank, i have to keep the flow coming just above water level in a sort of mini fountain/rapid or else the substrate is blown into a crater. my turtle is big enough to swim with/work against the current and so far the fish have seemed to adjust to the new high pace (taking full advantage of the currentless hiding places). this is perfect for my setup however it’s listed as 40-120 gallon; your tank should definitely lean towards the larger side. it’s a great filter, easy to take apart for cleaning/replacements just beware the strength of this one in particular

**please note; tank being reconstructed after posting, wanted to show the movement of the sand before repairing- the rock’s stressing me out too**

It works wonderful, but not so easy to clean for a turtle tank.

Plus the oxygen line never stays up or out of the water, so it’s really of no use.
And a bit to strong of water flow then I had wanted but it keeps it clean for the most part.
