I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged this in. I was looking for a pedal for those songs that I don’t quite want a clean tone, but don’t want nearly as much drive as my boost channel on the fly with quick, precise results for live performances (I know I could achieve that between pickup selection and trimming the volume and tone). In no time flat I was able to dial in exactly the tone I was looking for through nice tube amps. Then for kicks, I also plugged it in to a little battery powered Roland solid state amp that I have and this pedal really nicely warmed up the tone. It’s never quite going to sound and feel quite the same as a real tube amp, but this came plenty close. I strongly recommend checking this pedal out – and at $50 you really have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Only gripe is the input and output are on the top rather than the sides, but at this price point I might grab another one to dial up another variation of tone. It’s that good.

Great pedal for the $. Great pedal period

This is a great overdrive if you are just getting into pedals, or you just want to stack overdrives. The only thing is, for $50, don’t expect the pinnacle of overdrive sounds. The fulltone OCD is going to have much more creamy overdrive goodness. However, at $50, it would be pretty hard to beat this pedal.

I use this pedal with my strat and tele, plugged into a Tone Master Deluxe Reverb amp. Nice classic blues gain is attainable if you dial in the amp to the edge of breakup, then use the pedal to overdrive it just a bit. Just don’t overdo it.

More than I expected ! I tried several low gain style pedals lately. Among the list were the following. The Mini Nobels odr-1, Caline leon drive , Joyo ultimate drive. I will say the El Mocambo is my choice. The Caline and Joyo were about 30.00. The Nobels odr-1 mini was 79.00 and TC Electronic was about 50.00. Each has some great qualities and I found something to like about each one. I guess what I liked about the El Mocambo is the strudy build, Warm drive with either a single coil or humbucker and the price point is great. Try it. It may be just what you want.
