I often record videos of things where I need to use both hands to demonstrate what I’m doing; it could be it is an artistic technique, showing something I’m building, or a product demonstration. I’ve used a tripod with a camera setup on it in front of my chest, but it got tiresome reaching around it. I tried using a GoPro chesty, and a headstrap mount, but I couldn’t really tell how things were going with those. So far, the best option I’ve used is an overhead system, but I didn’t have anything sorted out for a point of view recording until now, and this thing is awesome.
Pros:
+ With the strap that goes around your back it is a remarkably stable system.
+ The bracket has many different angles it can be placed at so that you can find the ideal recording position to get good footage, while still being able to see what’s happening on your phone display.
+ The magsafe attachment is pretty strong. I wouldn’t go running, but walking around, sitting at a desk, and other low impact things are all totally fine. I suppose you could use it hiking, but it would look pretty absurd.
+ It works great for holding your phone while following an instructional video, whether you are working on your car or a recipe.
+ It is comfortable to wear, and the secure lock is easy to take off.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with this phone mount. It performs extremely well, it provides consistently good POV video, and while it is priced a bit more than others like it, the addition of the retention strap that goes behind your back makes a world of difference.

The hinges on the phone holder portion are nice and stiff, at least initially and after a little use. This makes it nice because I can rely on it keeping my phone in place without it bending and shifting. Rather than using this for filming, I actually use it when I’m on the couch or in bed to keep my phone up, without having to hold my phone up with my hand, which helps my hand and wrists from getting too sore and tired.
The weight of the unit is fairly light. I can feel it against my neck when my phone is on it, but it’s ok.
The neck wrap is bendable but has rigidity to it, so when you shape it the way you want it, it stays the way you want it.
If your head is small enough you can actually fit your head right through the hole, but there is release on the base of the phone holder that releases one side of the neck cable, so you can wrap it around your neck and reattach it.
It should be noted that, just in case it’s not clear, this works with the magsafe back on your phone case. I attached a mag safe circle to the back of my Android case and it works perfectly with this, but also works well with MagSafe Apple cases. The magnet is really strong and even with quite a bit of jostling my phone doesn’t come loose, or shift.
I can easily orient my phone either vertically or horizontally, depending on what I need.
It does come with a strap that can attach to one side of the phone mount base that would then wrap around your back, and connect to the other side of the phone mount base. This can be used for things where you are adventuring and want some stability in your phone movement, probably for recording video and such. I haven’t used this personally, but it seems like a useful option.

As a content creator, a body mount was up there on my list of gear to get. After using the Telesin Neck Mount for a few videos, I’m pretty informed with its functionality and limitations.
1) Convenience: Probably the biggest deciding factor for me was this. Most chest mounts have straps that go over your shoulders/ around your neck and another strap under your armpits. This neck mount you just have to put on like a necklace and taking it off is simple. I knew I’d be too lazy to actually use the fussy versions with several straps and I love that this is very easy to put on and take off. I also have a magnetic phone case holder, so sticking my phone onto the mount is super easy and I don’t have to take off my phone case.
2) Aesthetics: If you’re planning to go out in public with this on and self-conscious like me about this type of thing, this neck mount is a little more discreet than the other version I mentioned. It’s still a little bulky, which is to be expected, but easy to put on and take off to store.
3) Stability: This is where it kind of loses me. POV shots by nature are less stabilized than tripods or gimbals. I like it because I can get into tight spaces while keeping both hands free. But when turning from side to side, the base rocks a little bit. So in the footage captured, my videos have a slight “jiggle” when I make turns. This may or may not be an issue for you if you’re doing straight shots, but with the nature of what I’m capturing, the inevitable “jiggles” give me a bit of motion sickness. If I were to improve upon its stability, I’d like to see a version with a wider base to prevent the top-heavy mount from moving so much.
I will note that the kit did come with an optional chest strap, but I don’t use it since it really wasn’t very effective in my opinion.
Overall, it’s a sound product with its sleek design and major installation convenience. There are some issues with stability and affects the final footage captured, but not enough for me to toss the product altogether. It’s simply another option to add to my gear.
