What I like about this bag: The large U-shape zipper that allows access to the interior is very useful and handy. The extra compartment at the top is also a very nice feature. Dual “daisy-chains” on either side of the front main compartment are great for attaching gear. Adjustable Sleeping pad straps at the bottom are also a big “plus.” The pack has great features, all well made and well thought out.
What I don’t like: Although this pack is adjustable in just about every way possible, the buckles and straps are not “user-friendly,” at least, not on my pack. Buckles are difficult to operate, and straps are difficult to adjust. I found it impossible to adjust the pack properly while wearing. I had to remove the pack and make adjustment, then put the pack back on my back to check for proper adjustment. The “rain poncho” is useless for me. A nice rain-cover would have been far better for practical use. Lastly, This pack is not comfortable with loads of more than 25 to 28lbs. I normally must carry several lbs of water, even for an overnight or two. This puts my pack weight at 34 to37 lbs. This pack began to “compress” at that weight after several miles, and my shoulders began bearing more weight than was comfortable.
This is a quality pack with many great features. Just limit your weight to less than 30 lbs total.

I do have a couple of Teton packs, and I love them. I have two bigger packs for longer hikes, and one smaller hydration pack. I was looking for something in the middle to bring on day hikes, hunting, and even use in my RV on trips and found what I needed with Teton. Being 250 lbs, and 6 ft tall, it is not always easy to find such an easily adjustable pack (it fits me…with some slack) and we can easily adjust it to comfortably fit my 5ft tall wife. I was looking for a pack for my longer day hikes that lets me bring some essentials, food, water, stove, and maybe a small sleeping bag, as well as the DSLR and some tools. This pack does it well. It has straps on the bottom on the outside, that will let you attach a small sleeping bag. I also love the loops and storage pouch on the waist strap, lets me put the GPS and other little things in a convenient spot. The shoulder straps are comfortable, and like always there is plenty of loops, hooks, and D-rings all over the pack for extra external storage. The one thing I truly love about this pack compared to many of the other packs is the way the main compartment opens up. The orange zipper goes all the way around the pack from one side to the other, letting you lay it flat and access anything inside without having to pull everything out. It makes packing easier as well as accessing the one little thing that always falls to the bottom. I also love the color black, with minimal orange. Normally I go for the brighter packs, but in this case I love how well it hides. As always, Teton pays attention to the details, including a little whistle, and in a separate small compartment on top a orange rain cover that converts into a poncho, that converts into a emergency shelter. It has a spot for a hydration bladder with a hole stitched in, but does not come with one.

The Talus 2700 is an impressive all around backpack. Small and light enough for short day hikes, but large and rugged enough for multi-day backpacking (if you pack light). The main storage compartment has a generous sleeve for your hydration bladder and plenty of room for gear and food. I am a big fan of the wrap around zippered opening which makes access to all your gear so much easier. Plenty of room in the accessory pockets as well, including two side mesh pockets nice elastic openings to secure bottles or additional gear.
The adjustable back straps are really nice and very easy to adjust. I am a bigger guy and have a little difficulty with typical packs fitting well. The Talus has so much all around adjustment that I was able to dial in the fit pretty quick. I also really like the wide waist belt so the weight sits on your hips well, like it’s supposed to. I’m impressed with the overall thought put into the design.
I’ve worn this pack out on a couple of short hikes now and it has proven comfortable and versatile. The construction seems to be solid enough to last with plenty of abuse and if past Teton Sports products are an indicator, this pack should last a good long time.

Looks great and the quality is nice. It packs weird tho. The bottom is smaller than the top, so it’s a top heavy bag. Good for 1 day camping but anything longer I wouldn’t recommend. If you put a roll on the bottom straps you can’t fit anything at the bottom of the bag. I like it but I’ll probably have to get a different bag for multiple day camping trips.

Very pleased with this bag (Talus 2700) lot of setting on waist belt, torso length and shoulders straps. I tried several bag before this one and I was really impress of the quality of it. Good capacity, one large pocket on top to put all the small stuff, one large pocket ine the front, one on the right side of the waist belt. Zippers and fabric seems strong. Shoulder staps are well padded, there’s also padding one shoulder blades and lower part of your back. Very well made. I love the way it open, you can really see what’s in your bag and how to fit your stuff in it.
I’ll put an update later after my first hike with this bag. I’ll also add a picture of all the thing I was able to put in it!

I had been interested in Teton packs for quite a while and purchased this one as my first one. I have had this pack for 2 months now and have tested and used it and I am in love with this pack. It is so comfortable to wear. The padding is just right, the straps are form fitting and the waist belt was very well thought out. The tensioning system on the straps was a little weird to get used to, but nothing too terrible. The zippers have large open loops to put your finger in and use to pull open or shut. This alone make the use of the pack awesome. On two occasions I have used the outside side straps to either carry a tripod or double fishing poles into a favorite fishing hole. This pack contours to the body well, and you almost don’t even know you have it on until you need to get something out of it. It has a big pocket with hanging straps to place a water bladder in and an outlet for the hose. This was a well designed pack and I am not disappointed in my first Teton pack, there will be more in my future.
As a note, this pack has been used for 2 hr hikes, to day long fishing trips, to road trip packing, to day hikes and rescue call outs. I did find it a little large for just a couple hr hike, it was perfect for a day hike and the fishing trip. It was too small for the rescue call out (Search and Rescue Team) with all the gear I tried to carry.
I’d highly recommend this pack to anyone looking for a well made pack with some great fit.

Super bag!! The arched back is interesting. Feels it carries less than it maybe claims it does as the back pocket is restricted in width. For those that value that air movement then it’s worth it. This bag is perfect for day long hiking trips. Durable, comfy and packs enough for the family. Not so easy to make work for longer than that. We use it for camping, hiking and even used it as the sole luggage for 4 days overseas (one person).

I bought this bag as an entry level multi day hiking/camping pack. He’s approximately 56” tall and 65lbs. His pack is fitted to within 90% of the smallest it’ll adjust but fits him extremely well and will accommodate growth and adjustment into his adult years. The pack fully opens to offer access to the entirety of the inside items, plenty of longer outside storage pockets for housing a bush saw or spring polls. There are loads of external rugged mounting points for clips and carabiners and the double overall stitching looks solid. Hopefully it holds up for the intended rigours we plan to put it through but at this time I’m very pleased with its quality. Definitely worth the price.
