If the phrase “Marcia Marcia Marcia!” sends you into a giddy childhood reverie, then you’d better run out and get The Brady Bunch – The Complete Third Season. Not only does this season feature that definitive episode–in which middle sister Jan fights to get out from under the shadow of her older sister Marcia–but several other all-time favorite episodes, including the one in which Peter’s voice starts to change, threatening to wreck the potentially blazing career of the Brady Six musical group (presumably launched by producers feeling the heat from The Partridge Family). The show had found its tone and its creators crafted 23 perfectly calibrated visions of a domestic fantasyland, decked out in mini-skirts and bell-bottoms (check out Mrs. Brady’s recurring paisley pantsuit, made of some fabric offensive to nature). Marcia turns into a diva when cast as Juliet in the school play; Greg loses a bet with Bobby and has to obey the little boy’s every whim for a week; Jan has to wear glasses; Cindy yearns for a boyfriend–simple problems cheerfully solved by pithy moral lectures delivered by stern but loving parents. Despite adolescent hormones, snug pants, and the occasional ungodly short-shorts, sex never rears its complicated head.
Though ratings were modest during the series’ five-year run, in syndication the show became a phenomenon. As divorce became increasingly common in the 1970s, perhaps this smoothly blended and impossibly functional family had an irresistible appeal to kids from broken homes. Though the Brady siblings–played by Barry Williams, Maureen McCormack, Christopher Knight, Eve Plumb, Mike Lookinland, and Susan Olsen–were a charismatic sextet, it’s Florence Henderson and especially Robert Reed as Carol and Mike Brady, uber-parents, who give The Brady Bunch its familial glow. But everyone was the center of one episode or another; even Ann B. Davis dominated one episode as maid Alice’s lookalike cousin, a WAC Master Sergeant who imposed military discipline on these lazy suburbanites. No matter how corny the jokes or how daffy the stories, The Brady Bunch continues to cast its hypnotic spell

A must-have for any fan of ‘The Brady Bunch’. In my opinion, this might perhaps be the best season- from Bobby and Cindy disappearing in the Grand Canyon to the sexual tension between Mr. Brady and Alice, this season has it all! All 6 kids are beginning to grow up and come into their own. Alice is up to her usual hijinks! The first three episodes where the family vacations to the Grand Canyon (with guest appearances from Jim Backus of Gilligan’s Island fame) are classics! This is a throw-back to 1960s television at its best! Sherwood Schwartz (creator of The Brady Bunch and Gilligan’s Island), you’ve done it again! I recommend everyone picking this up and adding it to their dvd library!

This particular season of the Brady Bunch is not available yet on region 2 or European versions. So, in order to view this, one must have a multi region DVD/blu-ray player. As the previous two seasons, the Brady family continue to face various challenges and have adventures that only the Brady family could have in TV world. Obviously, in 2013, this show seems fantastical. Even in the late sixties and early seventies the Brady family seemed to live in a dream world but this show continues to have a place in the television sitcom canon. Regardless of its “cheesiness” the Brady family still represent that family we all wish we could have had as kids….undivided attention from loving parents, siblings that get along and every problem solved no matter what. And yes, this show takes criticism for not ever having addressed properly the issues of its day (such as the Vietnam war) but I think that’s the point in a way. What we all need desperately sometimes from television and movies is an escape and the Brady Bunch served as that during the sixties and it continues to do so now. I’m not at all embarrassed to say I love this show and this family and I wasn’t even born yet when it first aired. Buy the Brady Bunch DVDs, you’ll love them too.

The Brady Bunch is as fun and funny as ever, and the little life lessons in each episode are valuable for kids! The show started strong, and the 3rd season might be the best.

Great series. Wish there were extras in the set. Really dislike the Paramount Promos on the first disk that you can skip – you have to fast forward through them.

There must have been a sale at Sears when they made this show!I Really started noticing the clothes. I never noticed but The kids wear the same stuff all the time! Count how many times Greg wears that white sweater with the dark blue stripes! Count how many times Mrs. Brady wears the Gold paisley pants suit (sometime the whole outfit, but mostly the top with other 70’s pants- she wears this in at al least a dozen episodes in seasons 2 & 3)! And Peter sure like his red and white striped shirt! He wore it on the trip to the Grand Canyon and all throughout the season.

This show is so good. Fun to watch over and over again!

I’m an avid Brady Bunch fan and am buying the seasons as soon as they become available. I used to hunt around the TV looking for Brady Bunch reruns, and several years ago, Nick at Nite used to have Brady Bunch Thursdays. Now that’s over and I could never find enough Brady Bunch episodes to satiate my desire to relive the series of my youth (Marcia and I are about the same age). Of course, I couldn’t identify with the Brady’s growing up in my household, but they were an “escape” of sorts and I guess I like to relive the escape through the reruns.

I just love having them in my collection and any time I need an “escape”, I can pop in any DVD from their first, second or third year and get one.

The last week or so, I was “binge-watching” season 3 of The Brady Bunch on Amazon Prime video, and two of the episodes got mixed up with their titles. ” My Sister, the Benedict Arnold” was showing “The Personality”,( where Peter thinks he is dull and does his best Humphrey Bogart imitation) and vice versa. But I recently bought Season 3 on DVD and it does not have that technical problem. The Audio and video work well on my new Blu-ray/DVD player!
