we had a hard time finding a new tent we liked after our 20 year old purchase did not survive a microburst sadly. We returned several and then found this – so happy with this purchase. We camp for a week at a time and is spacious for a queen air mattress and our gear. love the extended “porch” fly to help keep insects out when getting in and out as well as an extra rain buffer.

Was seeking a smaller tent that was tall enough to stand in. Perfect size, sleeps 2 plus gear. 15 minute one person setup. Small enough I can pack it on the motorcycle across the back seat, or lengthwise over one of my bags. Not for backpacking but anything motorized is good. Definitely for warmer weather, so this is a good summer tent. Excellent materials and aluminum poles. Would definitely recommend.

I just put this tent up in my living room. I am specifically looking for a 4 person tent with great ventilation and good rain coverage for surprise storms that pop up in this forest. There is a lot of mesh on this which should be great for ventilation. There are 2 vents with kickstands to hold them open, the canopy can be unzipped and rolled up on the sides, and the large back door has a mesh screen as well as a waterproof outer door. But there are no loops for guying these out. If rain comes suddenly in the middle of the night, you have to go outside the tent to let down the canopy, the canopy doesn’t in any way cover the backdoor, and you have to go outside to close the vents. There is no way to do this from inside. I thought with the 2 doors this would provide great ventilation. If there was no threat of any rain, it might. But to prepare for possible rain, all the ventilation is sealed up. But also, why are most of the tent pockets on the back screen door? To use the back door, you have to roll down the screen with all the pockets. If they are full, all your stuff falls out. Also, if rain hits suddenly, all the stuff in the pockets gets wet. If there were guy lines to pull the canopy out more to provide more protection over the door, if the canopy could be let down from the inside so as to avoid getting wet and bug bites at 4 am, this could be a really nice tent. It’s just not well thought out. Also, it doesn’t come with any kind of instructions and the North Face website shows instructions for an older version of the Wawona 4 (or newer version, I’m not sure but it’s not the version I have). The canopy is only attached to the tent lightly in 4 places- 2 are velcro. It would have to be guy’ed down good to avoid blowing away. The tag on the tent claims this is a fast pitch tent for putting up in the rain. That is not possible with this tent. For a $350 tent, you’d think they’d have thought this out a bit better. It’s disappointing and I’m returning it.

I wish I could give this tent 5 stars because it seems like a really nice tent, but the base is way too thin. I bought the footprint with the tent, and after one use there is already a hole in the base… not happy

So there I was. My first trip with this new tent. Little did I know it would be put to the test on the first night. The winds gusted to 60mph that night with a constant 25+mph easy. I was waiting for poles to bend judging by how far the tent was moving during the gusts. After I woke up from my 2 hours of broken sleep I was the only one in our group of 7 tents without something broken or bent. It has survived a good storm and really cold conditions. I really like it.
