Works perfectly with my Surface 3. Using this hub, I’ve attached an external 1TB hard drive, mechanical keyboard, and optical mouse, basically converting my Surface 3 from a tablet/laptop to a ‘desktop’. So far, the hub has been working seamlessly, to the point where I basically plugged it in and forgot about it. I haven’t had a single problem. For convenience, I did put some velcro on the bottom to anchor it in place on the side of my desk… The USB cord is thick and the hub is super light, so it has a habit of wandering around whenever the cord’s bumped. Also of note, the cord is about 3′ long, which makes it very convenient to put ‘where I want it’ instead of ‘right next to the port’ like a lot of other similar hubs expect you to do.
Really, I’m not sure what else to say. It’s nice to purchase a product that just simply works. My only complaint is that the AC power cord for this hub has to be purchased separately. But at the same time, you really only need the power cord if you’re planning on charging smaller devices or using devices that require more power than your device’s USB port can provide in the first place. If you don’t purchase the extra AC cord, the device is entirely powered by your USB port, which is typically sufficient to run all but the particularly power-hungry USB devices. With the AC cord plugged in, I can use this hub to charge my bluetooth headphones and my USB battery backup… But it doesn’t put out enough amperage (2+ amps) to charge my Surface 3. If it could do that, it would be better than perfect.

I got this powered USB 3.0 hub specifically to work with my Raspberry Pi 4. It works beautifully with my FocusRite Scarlet 2i2 audio USB interface.
My project was to make automated recordings at specific times throughout the week with a cron/bash script. Before using a powered USB hub, the script threw errors. This specific brand of powered USB 3.0 hub is required because it has circuitry that keeps power from flowing back into the Raspberry Pi 4.
Since using this hub, my recording project works consistently & without errors. I also have a USB 3.0 enclosure for SSD storage and it works fine plugged into the Pi 4’s USB 3.0 slot into this powered hub.
Additional note: if you are using the Raspberry Pi 4 with a SSD enclosure, you need to search to find enclosures that *specifically* work with the Raspberry Pi 4’s USB 3.0 ports. Unfortunately, the Raspberry Pi 4 can be finicky about its USB 3.0 ports. Hopefully things will improve. This review was written on April 21, 2021.

Liked it so much I bought another. Arrived quickly, well packaged, works fine. It was probably designed for use with a laptop, the cord is a little short for desktop use without purchasing a USB3 extension cable. It could use some rubber feet on the bottom to prevent slipping and sliding.
I don’t use any high powered devices, so I don’t need the power adapter. If there was a model with a six foot cable and an included power supply I would have probably bought that one, just in case I needed the power supply at a later date. It looks nice sitting on your desk and allows you to relocate the Logitech nano receiver from under the desk to get a better signal. I also have a Sandisk nano USB3 drive to use as Redi-Boost. The top port works great if you are using a USB wifi adapter. And the last port I use for another USB drive to transfer files.

I keep my desktop under the desk, and this makes a handy extension to plug in USB devices like card readers or jump drives. My case is pretty old, so if I want to access a USB 3.0 port, I have to crawl around on the floor behind my desk. so this works great. I did have a problem for years that I could not get my iphones to register when plugged in to the hub. I only found out recently that the issue was a power draw issue, as I had Dragonfly DAC plugged into the hub and there was not enough power left over to allow the Iphone to work for data transfers. I thought the hub was powered, because that was mentioned in the Amazon listing. but the port to plug in an external power adapter is present, they just didn’t include the adapter with the hub. you can order the adapter for an additional $20. Not cool. It also explained why the sound from the DAC would get distorted and fade out whenever a song would play heavy bass. So now I just know to remove other power hungry devices if I have any problems, and moved the DAC to the rear panel of the desktop tower. I could not get a powered usb 3.0 hub at the time for this price, so I’m happy overall with the purchase and strongly recommend it. I’ve used it maybe 3-4 years with no other issues.

The usb hub works as intended. I didn’t run into any hiccups using this. The cable is also long enough at 3 ft. It is minorly annoying that the usb hub doesn’t stay in place because of its lack of weight, but I don’t think it’d be fair to take off a star for that (considering how much it cost).
