My girlfriend loves playing on the Nintendo Switch but frankly the screen is a little too small. She’s also playing a game that requires some extra peripherals. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on as it doesn’t interest me. So I went on a search for a way to stream the video feed to an Ipad. Using this adapter and an app, it works! It’s pretty smooth too. Looks great and totally useable.

In short, I love this thing and leave it plugged into my computer, with or without a cam on the end.
I use it, through OBS (under Linux no less), to record screencasts, with g00gle meet, even with the blasted zoom app. I set it for motion JPEG, 1920×1080 at 30fps for these things. My OBS setup would get confused about what is what when I played around with the 2 webcams etc But leaving this into the USB port all the time, and simply having the camera on or off works great–the OBS config is nice and stable, and when there’s no camera signal the capture dongle shoots out the classic colour bars, as shown in second image.
Trying to tweak contrast or brightness or anything like that in the OBS source interface is not a good idea–use your camera for that stuff and just feed in the signal you want: you have more control and it’s better anyway. About the lag…
All the USB capture cards I’ve used have some lag, that can be a pain to sync if you’ve got a distinct cam and mic. However, this capture card is on par or better in than the others I’ve used and I have found that the best solution is to hook up the mic to the big camera, and use the camera HDMI cable to bring in both image and sound.
If your cam doesn’t let you do that, you can still use OBS to add some delay to the audio and sync it manually, but I’ve found that tricky to get right, and that the lag isn’t always exactly the same, so if you can feed sound from the cam, do that.
So: I wish these things didn’t have such lag (sometimes it feels like a good half second) but I think this is a USB thing more than a capture card thing, and this specific item is now my (almost daily) workhorse for getting audiovideo into my computron.

I mainly got it for my PS4 and PS5 when I need to diagnose them but seems HDCP needs to be disabled and isn’t great for my use case

The media could not be loaded.

I wanted to use my Smartphone as an external monitor for capturing the POV of the camera to show how the Autofocus system worked.

My ELGATO CAMLINK 4K just keep crushing and using it with an adapter was to clubbersome.. soo.. i find out this UGREEN Capture Device, that didnt required and adapter to work with smartphones so i decided to give it a try.

Works really well. Doesnt get overheated in the sun, its just plug and play and has minimal latency and it didnt show any artifacts in the recordings.

Another great UGREEN product… im really a Fan of their Poweradapters and powerbanks, and this HDMI Capture device its as good as those.

The media could not be loaded.

I must admit, I thought video capture cards were expensive until I looked into it.

Having recently purchased an iPad Pro M4, I wanted a way to be able to play my XBoX One and Switch games on it but streaming over WiFi can be very laggy.

When I came across this adapter I decided it was worth trying for the price.

I had to use a video capture programme on the iPad for it to work but there are a few available with demos including Orion, Capturino and Genki Studio.

Once I’d plugged the adapter in and hooked it up to my XBoX and Switch, then loaded up the software, I was surprised to see it on screen straight away.

I did have a few issues where some applications didn’t show anything at first. I just took the adapter out, turned it over, and plugged it back in, then it seemed to work fine.

The quality, especially if you upscale to 4K (which you can do in the full versions of the apps), is amazing on the OLED screen and it’s easy to then record your screen.
There are a few similar devices on the market which I have yet to try but this does exactly what I needed.

I have also tried with an iPhone and Android phone which work fine but I would really recommend using a tablet with a decent screen to really take advantage of it.

One thing to bear in mind is that it will take up your usb-c slot but it did also work plugged into a usb hub which meant I could charge it at the same time.

Overall, I can’t fault this for the price and it means I can still be playing in the same room as my wife while she watches her rom-coms so that’s a win in my book.

I used this for backing up around 50 hours of camcorder tapes (with another adapter also) and it worked perfectly. Works great and definitely recommend

Works great to turn your Android phone into a portable monitor for the field, but I have tried an hdmi to vga adapter and an hdmi to vga unidirectional cable and neither will get video to this device unfortunately. On Android, get the app “USB Camera Viewer”. It works really well with this adapter.

Would have been so amazing for field work on servers with no monitors if the VGA would work x.x

Update: I was going to return this but decided to try it as a cheap solution to making a streaming PC. So I plugged it to a Dell 3050 micro PC and installed OBS. It’s amazing. Works so good. I duplicated my monitor in Nvidia settings. But – I’m going to get an HDMI splitter instead as this will make controlling the audio levels way easier. OBS uses Intel quicksync to make use of the onboard graphics for encoding…so this solution is truly awesome.
