This little WD SSD My Passport is a marvel. In size, it is slightly bigger than a credit card (I have posted a photos with a Credit Card). It will fit easily into a shirt or jacket pocket and is therefore very easy to carry around. In speed it performs very well.
Installation was a breeze. I was prepared to format the SSD just before use; I did not need to. It was literally plug and play. The device does get slightly warm in use, but only a little warmer than any HDD. Unlike some reports, it did not burn my desk or any other material. I could carry it around as I would any normal external Drive after use.
Registration for the 5 year warranty was also easy on the WD website. It was done in under 5 minutes. WD immediately sent me a confirmation of the registration, and also a separate email linking me with their support site for 5 years. This was excellent service from WD.
The only shortcoming is the length of the cable that comes with it. The cable is only about 3.5 inches long and does not allow for the SSD to sit on the table, when connected to an iMac. I will need to buy a 1ft cable to have it properly seated on my desk.
I would highly recommend this small gem of a SSD.
ETA: After my initial trial, I decided to format the SSD using Disk Utility on my iMac, and then check the speed of the Disk. There was remarkable improvement. I am attaching a screenshot of the results of my speed test.

I almost returned this because it’s sooo small and I didn’t think I ordered the right product. But I read the reviews again, and the benefits of SSD, and thought I should give it a try. It’s been a while since I purchased an external drive to backup and remove photos and files from my phone. With my first one I lost a lot of files because didn’t realize that it would take so long to transfer large files and inadvertently deleted them from the source before they were done. With this one, I was prepared to just set up the transfer of some large files and come back after lunch to check on the status of the transfer. I was shocked to see that they’d all successfully loaded within just a few minutes. So easy to use. Very happy with this purchase. I do recommend purchasing a storage case for it so it’s harder to misplace; it really is that small.

This thing is a juggernaut. I’ve used it to back up my entire computer, speeds are lightning fast.
I’ve only had it about a week and have transferred and deleted and re-transferred twice. So I can’t really testify to longevity, but Western Digital has never let me down. It’s super small and a little flimsy feeling, but it’s made of metal so it definitely strong.
I say buy it!

I say “so far so good” because it’s still early days, and the true test of this drive’s reliability is yet to come. If anything changes, I will update this review.
I purchased this drive as a replacement for a Crucial X10 Pro 4TB Portable SSD, which initially seemed like an excellent choice given its competitive price for 4TB of storage. Unfortunately, the Crucial X10 failed after just one day of light use, which was extremely disappointing.
In contrast, this drive has proven to be reliable thus far. It looks great, has an ideal size, and I’ve experienced zero issues connecting and using it. The packaging was excellent, and the drive appears to be of high quality and well-constructed.
However, there are a couple of minor downsides. The included connecting cable is too short, measuring just 5 or 6 inches. I will need to purchase a longer cable, which adds to the overall cost. Additionally, this per TB this drive was priced higher than the Crucial X10. Despite this, I believe that paying a premium for reliability is worthwhile, especially for a device intended to safeguard 2TB of valuable data.
Overall, I would fully recommend this drive based on my experience so far.

Toda tu información en un SSD del tamaño de una tarjeta de crédito, 4 tb literalmente en la palma de tu mano.

O produto está avariado. Não funcionou plenamente e ameaça dar curto no computador.

I’ve been using the 4TB version of this drive on a 13 yo Windows 7 64-bit desktop for 3 1/2 months. Of course, there are no USB-C ports on the computer, but I needed the storage capacity and wanted to be ready for future upgrades, so I’m using the included USB-A adapter. The drive performs as well as can be expected with the current hardware, connects easily, and stays connected. I use it primarily for video storage and have no problem accessing it’s contents via Plex on the network. However, I did run into one oddity when it comes to rebooting that I wanted to mention for anyone who might be using it on an older system like me. I rarely reboot my computer, so when I rebooted a couple of days ago – for the first time after connecting this drive – I was unpleasantly greeted with the “black screen of death” rather than the login screen. A quick internet search advised me to detach all peripherals and try again. It didn’t take long to confirm that this drive was the culprit because it booted up normally after unplugging the drive. Just another thing to remember when rebooting; and the drive still performs flawlessly. Another note: I also use the 2TB version on a Windows 10 laptop and have had no issues with it at all. Transfer rates are very fast, as advertised using the USB-C port. I’ve used Western Digital drives for ~25 years and have found them to be reliable, so I stick with them.

I have two of these. Excellent product. I have been a WD Western Digital user for a very long time. Never had any problems. These SSD drives are very fast and hold a lot of various file types.
