I was really to my last with finding a pebble food my finicky cat would like. The first time and still a year later he loves his food. He will meow and run so fast to his food perch and gobble up. Same brand with wet, its scary how much this food has opened his appetite. I am very pleased with the odor and how his coat is shinier. He is even more playful. So glad I took the chance for this 10 year old (kitten) .

This is the best food on the market, aside from raw or dehydrated food. It’s got great ingredients and actual meat.

My cat liked this food, it caused him to lose weight because he didn’t like it as much as the food I was giving him prior. So he ate significantly less, but I felt like he was unhappy with it and wanted to keep him happy so I switched to the Purina pro weight management cat food and he loved that

My cats would not eat this. They just cried for food until I could get them something different. Worst part, it couldn’t be returned. All the big pet stores will let you return cat food, opened, if your cats won’t eat it.

I’ve been purchasing this cat food from Amazon for the last couple years, because no retailer near me sells the Salmon & Rice flavor that my cat likes the best. The last two bags that I received (June and September 2023) comprised of an alarming amount of crumbs that the Wellness company refers to as “fines.” Amazon would not process a return, so I contacted the manufacturer by sending a message through the website form. Their response was as follows:

“Wellness product is made without the usual binding agents such as corn flour, wheat flour and soy flour. Therefore, the product is fragile. In the course of shipment and handling, the product may generate smaller pieces, known as fines. We do sift the product just before it goes into each bag hoping to minimize the amount of fines. Therefore, the fines generated are typically from post production handling, which is a natural process. We could reduce fines by using additional artificial binding agents, but we prefer not to, thus keeping our product all natural.”

Personally, I would not describe hard, dry cat food as “fragile,” and this cat food did not present with this issue until more recently. To Wellness’s credit, they refunded me for the purchase price of the first faulty bag. I have not sought reimbursement for the second faulty bag.

For reference, the images I’ve included show approximately the last 1/3 of a 5 lb. (80 oz.) bag of the dry cat food, with the fines sifted out using a colander. Out of the remaining 22.8 oz., 4.7 oz. is fines. That’s 20% of an entire bag being nothing but crumbs! Either Wellness needs to audit their production process for flaws, or come clean about cutting costs by skipping steps. Unless they also drop the price of this cat food by 20%, I’ll be searching for a new brand. One 5 lb. bag used to last us about 5 months, and now it’s closer to little more than 3 months because my cat won’t eat the crumbs.

I’m very disappointed in the reduction in quality control, because (by correlation, not necessarily causation) this cat food seemed to improve the softness of my cat’s long fur, reduced the incidence of mats, eliminated her sensitive, itchy skin and dry flakes, and greatly improved her digestion where previous brands caused her either vomiting or constipation.
