Winix 5500-2 Air Purifier With True HEPA Filter

This is a newer model of an original Winix 5500 air purifier(pure white). It’s not much change in the internal function but on its outer dark color that easily blend into the modern living room or bedroom. I’ve also owned the more expensive model Winix AWC-9500 Ultimate pet Plasmavave air purifier with HEPA 5 stage filter and washable carbon pre-filter. This machine has all the same filtration+plasmave functions of the AWS-9500 model excepts 3 stage filter(user may purchase 5-stage replacement filter)with a lot more cheaper,smaller and it can be placed against the wall with less room occupy. This machine is very,very effective on cleaning the air from a small to a medium room and it’s right behind me as I’m writing this review with turn on to a medium setting(low,medium,hi,turbo)and the airs in my small room is a super crystal clear breathing like I’m sitting on the hi mountain under the trees on the beautiful morning. What I like the best of this air purifier is it is super quiet on operation. You won’t hear any noises from the low setting and you will hear a very,very little white humming noise on the medium or hi setting and this noise level is an idealism for a normal person and it’s acceptable for even a most picky person can tolerate in the bedroom at night. Turbo is very powerful and very loud which I rarely use because medium is my favorite setting and it’s quite powerful on air clean circulation and hi is more than enough for me in a small room. Some users find the low setting is some how useless with no noise at all and you won’t feel anything unless you put your hand on the top of the machine to find a small amount of air to know that the device is on operation. I operate this air purifier over a week and find its odor sensor is very sensitive and very helpful which may raise from normal on green to orange and red if there’s strong smell in the room like farting,fishing or other cooking smells and the machine will automatically increase the fan speed to hi level to kill those smells until all clears and it will slow to your previous setting if you set it to auto. You may set it to the dim in sleep mode as low setting or ambien light input setting and it will be dim or bright depend on the light in your room and I haven’t use this yet. I never set it to auto(smell-sensor)that only allows low-setting or timer(1hr-4hrs-8hrs)automatically off but I turn it on normal with medium setting but the machine still raises organ then red light and it will automatically go to hi air circulation until all ordor is eliminated and this is better than the auto setting. The dust sensor never raises from the dy I owned the machine and I think this machine’s dusk sensor is accurate because my noses are very sensitive to dust and I will sneezy with the running nose if dust is presenting on the air flowing in my room(actually I have at least two different air purifiers in the room) I also like the plasma wave function that traps and kills viruses and reduces mold but some people may find this technology hi on drying their sinuses but it’s none for me at all. Some users with keen ears may find the machine’s noise level will raise up a little when plasma wave is turned on but in the tested I did not find any different. My cat finds the different with plasmavave on and left the room and I think there’s a hi pitch frequency that enImals can hear or someone with super keen ears might hear that. I turn the machine on 24/7 at medium when I am in the room and low when I leave the room. I’ve owned many,many different and almost all kind of different brand air purifiers in my house for the test use for a few months then re-sell them if I do not like the machines,and the review is based on my own user’s experience.
