I put this together by myself, but would have been easier and faster with 2 people. It was easy but did take me awhile and there are lots of parts and screws. If you don’t have one, this would be your perfect excuse to buy a ratcheting screwdriver. Some things to make sure to do is lay out the pieces how you would put it together. I made many mistakes that caused me to have to unscrew and adjust. Pay attention to the length of each piece and where the pre-drilled screw holes are. The only damage I had was wood splitting when screwing in the shelf pieces mainly because there weren’t wasn’t always pre-drilled receiving holes. The shelf was a little troublesome to align.
I added casters to mine – I did this step while the unit was still upside down and before I attached the table top. It fits nicely on the side of my house under the lean-to. My casters have stoppers which is needed if your surface isn’t level like mine (graded for the water drain).

Great table for the money. I’ve seen some reviews complaining about the perceived durability and sturdiness of this product. Yes it’s made of soft pine, and yes it’s not super heavy but remember you are only paying ~ $120 for this table. Not sure the folks complaining know what teak, cedar or redwood costs these days. For the price you are getting a basic potting table with a nice drawer and a small cabinet. It is stained and maybe treated for insects (smells like cedar). Everything in my shipment fit well but not perfectly, none the less it went together easily and the instructions were clear, at least to me. There are some dowel and mortise and tenon joins which should be glued in my opinion but it’ll be fine without. All the screws and bolts were clearly labeled in individual packets as were the wooden pieces of the table. We are going to put this potting table in an area next to our large vase potted flowers in a space that will be partially covered but still exposed to the weather. Having said that I will purchase some adjustable feet to keep the legs out of rain water and plan on giving it a coat or two of spar varnish or Tung oil. Wouldn’t expect this to last for years and years but is well worth the price. If you are determined to get something that you’ll hand down to generations to follow, this is not for you but I’d still recommend it for the price.

Easy assembly; finished product was sturdy. (Two people would be helpful)
I really liked that this was not ‘rickety’ when finished – it is in a sheltered outdoor location, but has already shrugged off two 25+ mph windstorms. It’s stable, and the work surface is a good size. Recommended.

It came in a sturdy box -alot of packing.(good). My husband took advice from other commenters and did poly coat the pieces twice before assembling. He seemed not to have any problem with putting it together. We use it as a real potting bench -we’ve had for over a month now and it’s exactly what we needed. Yes, the metal top is scratched but that’s because we filled a lot of flower containers on that surface so it will get scratched. We have found it to be functional, sturdy and practical for our needs.

This was very easy to assemble, despite what seemed like 5 million pieces. It comes right together easily. I had no split or damaged pieces, and I appreciated how the bag of screws/instructions was tethered to the box with a piece of ribbon, secured with packing tape, so even if there was a hole in the box those important items would not slip out. It was very well packed with styro sheets and blocks.
I treated all the pieces with linseed oil prior to assembly to protect this very lightweight and dry wood that will absorb moisture. I would recommend some kind of sealant/poly/varnish or something if it is intended to be outside in the elements. Mine will be on a screened porch so it won’t be in direct contact but it will get damp and will be affected by the weather, so I chose to oil it. I will likely need to re-treat once a year.
This item shouldn’t be limited at all to use as a potting bench. It can be used as an outdoor kitchen (will likely purchase a 2nd one for the tiny mountain cabin we have in the remote mountains), a drinks bar indoors or out (how about using regular enamel paint for indoor use, with attractive ceramic painted or novelty knobs instead of the drawer pull and latch that comes with it?), a work bench in the garage, a standing desk or craft station in a kitchen, or even for folding clothes in the laundry room. There is plenty you could do with this, and with a few modifications it could be dressed up for any location.
I was going to give it 4 stars because, let’s face it, this is not fine furniture, but for what it is, and the price, you really get a versatile and useful piece that can be painted/treated to last quite a long time. The metal surface on top is a wonderful touch. I gave it 5 stars.

The kit was very will packaged. I really liked the ease of putting this together with just a screwdriver. The wood is soft enough that I didn’t feel I needed to break out my drill with screwdriver bits. My only complaint was that the pre-drilled holes for the door hinges were not properly aligned. I had to futz with the door placement a bit before I was able to hang it (-1 star). I would buy this kit again if I ever needed a second potting bench.
