Yamaha gives the best value for the dollar. This guitar and its’ case are well worth the money. The tone woods on this instrument really make the guitar resonate beautifully. The passive pickup is sounds nice and doesn’t need 9V battery. Only complaint is there’s no volume knob for the pickup.

Not bad for the money although the nut was not cut correctly . The 6th and 5th strings at the nut was not cut deep enough and you could actually see the strings running uphill towards the nut which I corrected which is really bad quality control . The vender Kraft Music did not notice it because they either didn’t care or did not even remove it from the shipping box the take a look . Oh well another vender struck off my list of shady sales crooks .
After the proper setup the guitar plays good and sounds good depending on which pick you select which is commonly not considered when playing a acoustic guitar to achieve the sound you want . The pick is good which I run through a Fishman Platinum Pro EQ which does the trick .

Had hopes for this to be an upgrade to my fender solid spruce top and laminated back but had to return. This has no base at all. all mid range.

The quality of craftsmanship was very good but it lacked the tone I expected especially a guitar model specifically manufactured with that as a major selling point.

I’m in total AWE with this guitar. An incredible guitar, incredible sound & incredible workmanship. I went out guitar shopping and played several Martin, Taylor & Collings Guitar. They priced from $2,500 to $8,500. The higher end Collings & Martins had a great sound. But, my budget was $1000. I played several Taylor & Martin guitar costing $2,550 to $3,800 and I was disappointed. They were lacking…to say the least (especially considering their price tag).
I did some research and decided to buy the LL16D. The moment I took it out of the case and started playing it, I knew I made the right choice. The guitar is easy to play, it’s beautiful (with the abalone binding & fretboard inlays). The sound is a balanced crisp, bright sound with plenty of bass plus amazing sustain. The sides & back are book matched rosewood with a beautiful grain pattern. The top is an exceptional quality engleman spruce often found on $5,000 + guitars. This sounds like an aged Martin HD-28 or D-45. I do alot of fingerstyle playing and its very responsive. It blew away a Martin D-42 ($5000) that I compared it too and equally beautiful in appearance.
Check out this guitar. It’s available as the LL16 with standard dreadnaught maple wood trim (D-28).
I am thinking about buying another one like the 12 string mode (LL-12) and the LS16 (small jumbo).
Trust me when I say that you won’t be disappointed. I’m sold on the Yamaha LL series guitars! Amazing guitars at an amazing price!

I recently purchased this guitar sight unseen. After extensively searching online for a acoustic guitar I decided to bite the bullet and order this from Sam Ash ie Amazon. There was only one of these available to ship on the continent. Sweetwater was where I was going to buy but they weren’t available yet. The guitar arrived yesterday and with great apprehension I opened up the case and took all the padding off. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it looked. I cannot find one flaw on it. The sound is to die for.The sustain and playability right out of the box is superb.I’m so happy all the work studying and reviewing payed off. I would highly recommend this guitar. No need to spend 3 or 4 thousand dollars on a Martin, Taylor, Larrivee etc. All I can say is WOW. I have other Yamahas and love each one. Impeccable workmanship. Thanks to Sam Ash Tampa for the service. The case is also very nice. Nothing cheap about it. Shipping and packing was A one. Thanks again.

Only once before in my 50+ years of playing guitar have I ever bought a guitar sight unseen (except in the ad) or should I say UNTRIED or without having played it first! But that guitar was an Ovation Custom Legend 6 string and I was stationed overseas and needed to replace my stolen guitar (an Ovation Custom Balladeer) very quickly due to pressing gigs! This Yamaha L-Series LL 16R 12 string Solid Rosewood, I had looked at and studied intensely for several weeks (to replace my aging 1988 FS-460 S-12 with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, which STILL plays and sounds excellent but had been converted to an acoustic electric and needs some fret reworking). This new Yamaha is an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING guitar. It was built as an acoustic electric using a “passive” electronics system that produces the BEST NATURAL sound I have ever heard and more powerful gain than I ever imagined. No battery to replace but no volume or tone control either, not that anyone needs one,(I did purchase an Ernie Ball Jr Volume Pedal just for back up though). The guitar itself arrived packed in its own hard shell, extremely nice and tough case delivered via UPS in two days, totally UNSCATHED from it’s journey! I unwrapped it from the heavy duty plastic liner which protected the case and guitar in the box, took it out of the case, and inside of 5-8 minutes tuned it up maybe three times (typical for new, unused strings) and it held tune for over a week before needing to tune it again!!! Immediately I noticed the tone of the guitar is beautiful and full and rich! It plays as easily as its seasoned predecessor (I’ve had a couple of luthiers and a seasoned guitar repairman do custom upgrades/repair work on my older Yamaha). I play multiple times a week for my church (I’m a worship music leader) and this new Yamaha has gone way beyond expectations to fill the need! I could not have asked for a better experience! All the other guitarists love it’s tone and playability!!! You can tell it is hand made in it’s beauty and sound, even the bindings are wood! Thank You LORD, Yamaha and Amazon!!!
