I wish I would have had something like this a long time ago. It’s compact, easy to use, has amazing sounds, and replaces about 5 or 6 pedals you might otherwise be using. It has a built in chromatic tuner. The on board sounds give you delay, reverb, chorus, distortion, and some nice bright clean tones. It’s got a small footprint and is ideal for practicing or jamming. Aesthetically it looks great. This thing is pretty amazing.

An excellent practice amp. Gives a slight hum until you pick up the guitar, which grounds the amp and it becomes silent. This is for an older Telecaster. Newer equipment might perform better. I would have preferred the 30W model but for the price, this one is perfect, 10W per speaker. I can get a clean sound from this amp that makes my Tele sound almost like an acoustic. Great for learning. Turn up the gain and “effects” knob for distortion–limited range but all a beginner needs. Bluetooth interface makes it a very decent speaker for running jam tracks (for an acoustic guitar). I did not spring for WiFi. I’m not on stage and I have no problem with a cable. I replaced a cheaper Katana Boss with this. I believe this Yamaha is the best entry-level amp on the market.

Nice amp.Easy to use .Nice sound .I bought it because a Yamaha recommended it for use with electric violin since it has a flat option for acoustics.

This has to be one of the nicest looking and performing amp/speakers I’ve used. The sound is big and full, and it has a lot of really nice features which you can even further unlock by using the remote app. Love that it has a tuner in it and the sounds that come out of it are so versatile, I think anyone would be happy to use this as a beginner guitar amp or as a speaker. I use it as both since my computer only has headphones hooked up to it otherwise. As a computer speaker, it feels about as good as any soundbar with subwoofer while looking better. Surely other amps in this price range sound as good, but I really like the feature set on this one and most other cheaper amps look kinda bad IMO. The only drawback I can think of, is that there isnt a battery operated option on this model and I understand that you might not be able to change tones when using a looper pedal but neither of these things affect me.

Great little amp, with tons of features to dive into. Getting my sound on a small scale, think my living room, was very easy. I will be using it for practice purposes strictly, not for live performance. The Bluetooth feature is great, you get very high quality playback, with it’s own volume control separate from the guitar volume. The THR Remote app on my iPad is very intuitive. I haven’t dug into it completely, because once I start playing, I’d rather play than experiment, but I’ll get there. It was a little pricey, but when I ordered it, I got $100 off by signing up for an Amazon Card. All in all, very happy.

Well-thought-out design and great sound. Period. Yamaha delivered!
Basically, there are so many things you can do. To keep it short – if you’re a jamming or practicing at home, this is the only amp you need. For recording (on your shure sm57), as I said, simply great sound, plenty of options – hard to find anything this good (although the price isn’t super fun, but worthy), and your mic will be happy to hear this amp. Hit that G string and rock!

Great little amp. Packs a punch. You can download an app and access 2 more sets of canned effects but unfortunately, the LED lights don’t change to reflect the set you choose on the amp. I think it might do that on the THR30ii. But for me, this amp is a great desktop practice amp and if you’re learning along with an app or computer, you can plug in headphones and it works great. Highly recommend for people learning the electric guitar. If I could do it again I might spring for the wireless model. You can also download the included recording software if you’re looking to do more.

Bought one as a wedding gift for a professional musician, and he swears by it. So, I bought one myself, and haven’t fired up proper amps for practice since.

    Pros:

Clean and distorted tones are great. Volume is impressive for the size, but nothing you’d setup live.

Bluetooth and customizable presets are a huge advantage over the 5, but you give up the portability of battery power without shelling another few hundred.

App control adds a couple extra settings, but I honestly don’t use it. It’s a practice amp, sitting a few feet away, and manual changes are just more convenient.

    Cons:

Bass and acoustic tones are not great. Passable for practice, but it’s a little disappointing compared to the great electric tones. If you’re thinking this as a primary bass/acoustic amp, look elsewhere. These seem like an afterthought, and the disparity of sound is why I didn’t give a five star review.

Syncing Bluetooth is a little confusing at first since it appears as two devices – one for app and the other for audio stream. I had to figure out which was which.

And FYI. You have to hold buttons 4 & 5 to enable Bluetooth.

This is simply the perfect desktop practice amp. I love that it has separate volume controls for audio and guitar inputs so I can play a backing track from my laptop and dial it in with my guitar so it sounds like one cohesive mix. My wife loves that I can use headphones with it.

The range of tones and amp sims it offers is large- especially when you access the extra features through the online app. I’ve been able to satisfactorily replicate Gilmour style reverb saturated leads, Dimebag style crunch, Hendrix style fuzz, in fact the only tone I haven’t had much success getting close to is Brian May’s but i think most of that comes from the odd wiring in the red special.

Plenty of user-created tones available online, and it’s easy to share and save your own.

I did have to purchase a cable to connect it to my laptop usb and I wish it had just come supplied with that, but that’s a minor gripe in the scheme of things.

I purchased the 10W version which is plenty loud enough for in home use and desktop recording. If you were busking or playing live, especially with a drummer, I would consider the 30W version instead.

Another plus, it makes for a great bluetooth speaker when I’m not using it as an amp.

    Overall, 10/10 would buy again.

I needed a practice amp for a small room for both acoustic and electric guitars. I wanted it to be able to achieve a variety of sounds, to have good portability and good audio quality. It does all that and more. Really enjoying myself using it. Furthermore, I own several Yamaha products. I think in general it’s a very good brand. So it’s quite a safe buy for me.
