Safe, not smelly. I mixed this with eco earth because I didn’t have nearly enough, although I’m glad I did because this is very similar to potting soil in a dirty loose way. Works great for adding like plants into the tank though!

I mix reptisoil with playsand or eco earth (depending on the species) and it works well. It can get dusty by itself so it’s best used in combination with other materials. I mainly use it for my bearded dragons, leopard geckos, blue tongue skinks, and some of my other species that like digging.

This stuff is really great, if I didn’t just make most of my substrate then I would definitely just get this stuff. It’s very fine, dark in color which I think just brings out the colors in a terrarium, it forms nicely once dampened, real good quality stuff! Please don’t pay $50 for a bag of dirt it’s not worth it, this stuff is great and basically the same as thing, my ball python and bearded dragon are gonna love it!
When I first when to buy this I looked at the one star reviews saying that they got lots of invisible splinters.. First of all I didn’t notice this really, imeen sure I got some invisible splinters but they went away just by dusting my hands. And also, have you ever like went outside and touched dirt before? Or planted a plant? There’s just gonna be invisible splinters everywhere that’s just nature, and my reptiles don’t seem to be affected by them at all.
Anyways great product highly recommend.
