My cockatiel is not very good at eating fresh vegetables, but she does like the vegetable mineral blocks. I feel like this gives her some of the essential minerals she is missing from the fresh vegetables she ignores.

My budgies almost broke his beak on this . very hard for him to even crack into it. but if you have a larger bird it would work
Jess –
The birds love it as soon as it’s in the cage I know it won’t be long before one of them will be on it. It stays attached to the wire up to the last bit to the cage. Unlike most that fall of way before it gets halfway down. It’s great quality and value for money I am a repeat customer.
Terri –
My birds love these things. They don’t really like the fruit ones or the kind with fancy shapes or the plain ones, but all of them go crazy for the veggie blocks. I definitely recommend!
Asidian –
was having a hard time finding calcium supplements that my birds would willingly eat and so far this is the only one! They hate the expensive ones, the Hari ones, cuttlebones, etc so I’m glad this exists

zoo med’s vegetable mineral block I ordered through amazon.com trimmed my parakeets beaks down as soon as they started eating & pecking on it, The next one I order will be a bigger one since I have 5 budgies all using it at once.. I might try other flavors too for a assortment of blocks for them. This block didn’t fall apart like most do and kept it’s shape until it was gone.

So this has been situated in my bird cage for a few months. Nothing. Secured it to the outer top of the cage, where my birds also go….nothing. My budgies have NO interest in this mineral block AT ALL. Purchased a fruit flavor instead….same thing. Nothing. So now I have two worthless blocks inside the cage that my birds simply ignore. Tried scraping the top to release the flavor or scent to attract them….nothing.
Have seen similar mineral blocks much cheaper at Walmart, but why bother. They prefer cuttlebone over this thing. Well, I tried. Won’t buy again. Ever.

However, she doesn’t seem to be chewing on it all that often. Not to say that she doesn’t chew on it, she does. She just doesn’t love it as much as her cuttlebone, which may just be a personal preference unrelated to the quality of the product. Packaging was good quality.

I have two cockatiels who couldn’t wait to investigate what this was when I put it in their cage. They have gobbled down more than half of it and it’s only been in their cage 3 weeks. They have another mineral block they don’t touch so I guess that means they prefer the flavor of this one.
Update 10/28/14: I bought two more of these blocks and the birds are still interested. I realized that there is spinach in the blocks, which is one of the vegetables my birds like. I could see bits of spinach in one of the blocks and my older cockatiel likes picking out the bits and eating them. So the block isn’t just for nutrition, it keeps the birds occupied.
I find that the block is too soft to wear down my birds’ beaks or toenails, although it may be good for smaller birds like finches or parakeets.
