Habe diesen Prozessor zusammen mit ASUS ROG STRIX B650-A GAMING WIFI Mainboard Sockel AMD AM5 (Ryzen 7000) gekauft. Laut Asus /AM5 Socket for AMD Ryzen™ 9000& 8000 & 7000 Desktop Processorss
und die mit G! Es funktioniert nicht. Laut Mainboard_leuchte gelb, liegt es am Speicher o. Prozessor. Speicher hatte ich getauscht, immer noch nicht. Gelb!

I built my own Desktop and used the AMD Ryzen 7 8700-G processor with built in 32 GB GPU for gaming, meaning no need of a separate video card and so far everything is running great. You can still ad a video card later if you want and the GPU is disabled within the CPU if I read that correctly. It sure makes for a less expensive gaming system.
I am extremely happy with this build!

This processor is very fast and efficient.
It works great for heavily threaded workloads and unlike Intel CPU’s does not slow very much (<20%) when two aggressive threads on one core!
I paired it with a GigaByte MOBO and 64GB of Micron RAM
The graphics are RDNA3 which is rather new and this is the first APU to use it. As a result I had to go with the recently released Linux 6.10 kernel to achieve stability when running 3D graphics and most high end games. Using MESA 23.X+ I think also makes a difference. In my case I used the recently released OpenSuse 15.6 and then upgraded the Kernel not from the documented repository but from the backports branch of the repository search for OpenSuse and Backports for more information.
One more thing there are still many MOBO’s kicking around out there with old BIOS that cannot be upgraded until you put a 7000 series CPU in them which this is a PITA. GigaByte solved this by providing a special USB port managed by an independent microcontroller on the MOBO that you plug a USB stick into with the latest BIOS push a button and it flashes the new BIOS without even having to install the CPU, pretty cool!

Works great, just ensure to install AMD Ryzen 8700G drivers from AMD website.
Windows (10/11) will install just a default driver that do not enable the embedded GPU.
Look at the Windows Task Manager, if you don’t see the GPU at the bottom… it is not enabled.
Before the AMD drivers installed, just reproducing a 1080HD full screen video made the CPU load jump to ~75% and CPU fan speed to max and noise.
After installing AMD drivers… CPU load ~9%, GPU load ~3%… and CPU fan remains at minimum.
Look at the screenshot attached, arrow on the bottom left.

I’ve never been brave enough to overclock anything, but I don’t see a need to with this CPU! It’s so fast and powerful!

Being more interested in compute than graphics being able o get by without a standalone GPU is great. The Ryzen 7 8700G with 16 cores provides plenty compute with reasonable power and heat dissipation requirements.

great all round processor but there are better value options.

The AMD processor is great for small form factor system builds. I installed this chip in a minis Forum MS-A1. It makes that system a speedy little system.

I got a bunk unit, it wouldn’t controll 4 stick of ram at anything other than 3600 speeds. The two sticks would run expo but anything more than that and it would freeze up. Otherwise everything else runs excellently and I’ve had no issues with any applications or games.
