  2. Everyday is Blessing

I actually got this to use at the Charity office where I volunteer whenever I can.
We are expanding a bit finally, and there are in need of meetings through zoom with other business or charity personnel. This one has been working quite well to cover the meeting room we use to do video conference with others for the last 2 months now.
This is definitely not the cost effective choice, but if you can afford one, this can be a great addition to your workspace.
We experience no issue using it with the zoom so far. I will try to upload the actual footage of our vide conferencing after editing out the private information (which might take forever for me to do haha).
In a mean time, try to find some vide reviews posted on youtube to see the actual quality of the performance !

The sound quality is good the microphone (ability to hear me anywhere in the room is excellent. The video quality is where I could be more satisfied I understand that most systems, such as zoom, are not yet ready for the 4K system, so I am optimistic that the video will be better through software and system upgrades.

The media could not be loaded.

No requiere controladores.

This is a very interesting product that is more likely to be a corporate or business purchase for group conference calls, where its abilities are likely to excel. However, individuals may also be interested in purchasing it for particular applications – my interest is in using it for presentations in a workshop environment, where I will be moving around. If you teach pilates or yoga online this may also be useful. What it isn’t is a standard webcam. The field of view is too wide (124° compared to a more usual 75°), leading to a sort of slight fish-eye effect. The camera has both zoom (up to 4x) and AI-based framing (for example, of the person speaking in a group) which effectively narrows the field of view. It will follow you around as you walk and talk … ideal for the application I propose to use it for.

Setup … the camera worked ‘out of the box’ when attached directly to the USB C port in the back of my 2020 M1 Apple Mac Mini (running MacOS 12.6.4). Check port compatibility as this has rather specific needs. There is a separate power supply and UK transformer, with a cable ~2 metres in length. The camera has a metal bracket with a standard tripod female thread, so attaches to a SmallRig arm (for example) securely. So far, so good.

The camera can be used without the AverMedia Connect software but it is definitely worth downloading this as it allows changes to be made to the setup and use of the camera. For example, exposure can be adjusted manually with control over both exposure and gain, enabling better images of contrasty subjects. There is an HDR exposure setting, but using this turns off most of the clever features of the camera like gesture detection, AI framing and the Zoom functions.

The software is good, but far from perfect. The screen image is really rather small and so is difficult to determine whether changes to framing, exposure etc are optimal. AverMedia could learn from Elgato as their Camera Hub software is an excellent example of what can be achieved. There is the ability to open the image in a new window which is a help. However, there are some oddities with the Connect software – firstly it always starts on system startup despite this not being a selectable option on installation, and despite it not appearing as a login item in the Mac. Secondly, the Connect software ONLY shows a live image when the Connect window is the active one. If you switch away to another application – even one not using the camera – the window blanks. Odd.

The comparison of the Mingle Bar with the Elgato Facecam is a useful one as both use the same Sony Starvis sensor which produces an excellent image. If you Zoom in a lot, or use the AI framing feature, the image quality is reduced as these functions are achieved using a digital zoom. The AI framing is turned on/off either through software or – much more impressively when in use – by simply holding up your hand for 3 seconds.

Microphone quality is very good and picks up the sound from a good distance away (3-4 metres at least) as well as coping well (through noise reduction) with background noises. In contrast the speakers are less good. For individual use, for example in the type of workshop presentation I will be doing, this is unlikely to be a dealbreaker. However, for a small or medium group meeting, with several in the room rustling papers or whispering then you should consider a better sound output setup. The speakers are 5W with ‘bass boost’ (quoted from the AverMedia website) but actually sound a bit tinny and flat. The HDMI output will allow an external screen and speakers to be utilised which would be a much better solution for group presentations. I did not test this function.

If you are looking for a high-end webcam, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a highly specified, small group conferencing system then this has a lot going for it. This Mingle Bar competes directly with items such as the Poly Studio R30 or the Logitech Meetup (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Meet-Up-ConferenceCam-Camera-120-Degree/dp/B071KBDVV5), with the latter being a comparable price. For an office or enterprise environment this will work infinitely better than clustering around a standard webcam, giving both a better user experience and a very much more professional impression to others on the call. For those who need this functionality, highly recommended.

This us a good product with high audio and video capabilities. The noise reduction aspect is superb as the message resonates crisp and clear through the speakers. The video quality is also of good quality. Its definitely a step up from our prior office av meeting setup.

I ordered this unit for one purpose and that was to lessen the amount of gear I had to lug around to do remote Podcasts, and the AVerMedia exceeded my expectations.
This AVerMedia was a choice I made hoping that it would be a solution for remote podcasting in a compact form factor without having to use my DSLR which I use in studio with a lot of cabling and so on and it works perfectly.
The camera is better than expected and although not my DSLR it is more than suitable for remote use. The ability to be set up and ready to broadcast in seconds is great and as simple as putting it on my tripod, plug in power, plug in an external mic, go to my laptop, get online, open my podcasting program, and I’m ready to go.
Echo canceling works great eliminating the need for headphones and I have never had an issue with the endless echo when talking to a guest. My podcasting program handles most of this but with the echo cancel in the AVerMedia it is a non-issue that I never worry about.
I do use an external shotgun Mic that is highly directional, this is not because of any issue with the on-board mic which works very well, I just wanted studio quality no matter where I am. I do broadcast from some public areas with a lot of ambient noise and the shotgun mic assures that there is little to no external noise.
I know that I am not using the AVerMedia to its fullest capabilities but for what I do it is the perfect choice.
