It’s a brand everyone knows… so no worries about quality.
I needed more PoE ports for additional security cameras and this thing fit the need perfectly. The 10g SPF+ ports give enough uplink throughput to support all of my cameras at the highest resolution and quality.
Easy to setup, easy to use. QUIET!

I have a UniFi system and have numerous PoE devices (cameras, downstream switches, Raspberry Pis with PoE hats, etc.) throughout the house. I had a collection of UniFi switches, some PoE and others using separate PoE injectors. This Linksys switch cleaned up that wiring mess and made my installation look very clean.
Besides, the looks, I also noticed some performance improvements – well, more like an occasional issue with Sonos/UniFi compatibility that seems to have gone away now. My theory is that this Linksys switch handles the RSTP/STP mixed mode network better than the UniFi switches.
I had not planned on having two separate management interfaces (one for UniFi and one for Linksys), but I don’t think I’ll have to use the Linksys interface frequently or at all in the future. It just works!
The only thing I wish was different, and this might be nitpicky, is I wish it had at least one PoE++ (90W) port. I have a downstream PoE wall-port that is capable of linking/negotiating to PoE++. It still operates on PoE+, but it then limits the output of its 4 ports. This is maybe a unique situation that others won’t face, so I’m not taking any stars off for this.

Before I migrated to the Linksys LGS328MPC, my main network had grown to use three devices:
– my primary backbone switch with 8-port 1Gbe and four 10Gbe ports
– a secondary switch with 8 1Gbe ports
– a dedicated PoE switch with 8 1Gbe ports
This one unit has (nearly) replaced them all! It is very easy to set up and manage. For example, configuring two of the SFP ports to LACP took just a few seconds.
That said, I do have a couple of quibbles with this:
– the port layout in the web management tool does not exactly match (see the screenshot) as the SFP ports are horizontal on the switch, but the tool shows them stacked
– speaking of SFP, while I appreciate the flexibility, one of the things my last switch had was combo SFP / 10Gbe RJ45 ports; at this price point, it would it have been nice to include these (and the ventilation to support them)
– in that same vein, this switch only supports a single type of RJ45 SFP transceiver—theoretically, any SFP transceiver should work, but 10Gbe generates a lot of heat, so they only recommend one brand/model, the documentation for which is buried in the depths of their support site—the 10Gtek ASF-10G-T; this limits what you can use and at $50 a pop, it’s an expensive upgrade

I ordered this switch as an upgrade to my homelab, and for that purpose it is most certainly overkill. That said, this switch is absolutely incredible, and it amazes me what you can get at this price point these days.
This switch is well built and feels very solid. It’s what you would expect out of business-tier or enterprise-tier gear. The entire switch has a black powder-coated finish; not just the front panel is finished. The top panel is embossed with the Linksys logo, which is a detail that adds to the look. The rack ears are included in the box.
I like to use mini PCs and single-board computers (SBCs) like the Raspberry Pi in my homelab. They’re usually pretty cheap, they’re low power, and they offer the ability to test and experiment with software that supports clustering or failover. This switch has this use case covered with PoE+ on each port and an overall power budget of 480W.
The software manual is not included in the box. You will have to find it on the Linksys website when you search up the model of the switch. It’s about 110 pages and covers just about everything you would need to do: user management, VLAN, link aggregation, QoS, ACL, port security and isolation, DoS setup, etc.
Manual in hand and some time exploring later, I think the management software offers a great balance between less experienced users and advanced users like proper network engineers. A particular feature that I like is that the software lets you monitor the power consumption of each of the PoE-enabled ports. You can even set a power budget for each of the ports if you want. It defines the limits by Class 0 to 4, but for some reason Class 0 and Class 3 are the same. Nonetheless, this feature is great for the aforementioned mini PC usage in my homelab.
A big thing that gets overlooked is the warranty. Linksys has a FIVE YEAR warranty on this switch. Last time I checked, the warranty from Ubiquiti was two years (for a product bought from their webstore), and the warranty from Cisco was three years on hardware. Linksys is beating their competition in this regard. I expect that, in five years, 2.5Gb ethernet will be the new standard for a switch in this price range, but it’s great knowing that’s Linksys has got you covered with this switch until that point.
At the time of writing this review, the price of this switch was $541.35. This switch really offers so much, so I think this price is justified. From a homelab point of view, this thing will serve all my needs for the next five to ten years.
