So close to perfect, but so far…I need a USB C hub adaptor for my MacBook for my home office. The connection between the MacBook and the hub needs to be at least 8″ because the laptop is up on a stand for cooling and ease of use; this is the only hub I could find that meets that need. I don’t really use it for traveling because everywhere I go to either already has all the connectors (work locations) or I have no need to connect to anything (hotel room), so the portability is a solution in search of a problem for me.
However, since I do a lot of video conferencing, I’ve had to upgrade to a better camera and get a separate light, and the light requires a USB connection…which means with monitor, keyboard, mouse, camera, and light, I need one more than this hub has. Most of the hubs on the market put in SD cards and HDMI connections and things I don’t need, and have a too-short connection to the laptop, but I’m having to go to one of those; if anyone knows of something like this product with just 1 more adaptor, let me know!
Also, I like that this comes in white, as that matches my office.

I bought this dock on the recommendation of a friend, and it’s good in that unlike some cheaper docks it does what it promises and doesn’t seem to overheat – it’s got an heat transmitting aluminium casing for this reason.
However, I didn’t notice in the specs that it only provides 30Hz refresh rate on the HDMI port if you’re doing 4K resolution. As a result, the mouse pointer and scrolling etc is noticeably juddery on screen. Unfortunately the only way around this is to get a separate USB C to HDMI 2.0 converter that can support 60Hz 4K, or alternatively use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable if your monitor has a DisplayPort input.
Everything else about it has worked well – the USB 3 and Ethernet works fine.

I must note here – having first purchased a wrong hub – that this is the one you need for 2020 and newer models. This works great for my MacBook Air 2020. I like that with the long cord to my Air I can hide this in the side cupboard of my desk. I’m giving it only a four because it gets really hot even when I only use it for my old mouse.

This product is great… except for the SD card slot. The SD card slot works half the time when you need to view photos. However, when you try to copy any data off the SD card it Ejects itself almost immediately when data transfer starts to happen.

This is a wonderful solution for adding ports to a M1 iMac. White color blends seamlessly, low profile cord connection and cord length allow you to stow this hub out of sight, or you can purchase a small storage shelf to mount on the back of the iMac to hold the hub. Has worked perfectly with USB and USB C connections (haven’t had a need for the other ports). Great build quality. Highest of recommendations.
