I was in two minds whether to install this inside my pc or to utilise it within an enclosure i already have as an external device, due to the 256gb size i decided on the later and it provides a slim portable and fast external solution too.

Item arrives in a branded box that’s also suitable for gifting if intended.

Due to already having two larger capacity variants of these on my mini pc’s motherboard and no more slots, i placed this inside an external NVMe enclosure instead, the enclosure came with a Usb Type C cable so it was easy to connect and fit this, i found it very handy to have a small slim and portable Usb SSD drive that can be plugged in whenever it’s required.

In operation it performed as intended, it isn’t the fastest drive in the world and my chosen connection method will hinder it somewhat in those transfer speeds, but that wasn’t the point, it provided me with a slim and very portable external drive for very little money.

The Fikwot FN501 Pro 256GB NVMe SSD is a powerful storage solution that offers impressive performance and reliability. The SSD’s M.2 2280 form factor and PCIe Gen3 x4 interface ensure fast data transfer speeds of up to 2800MB/s, making it suitable for demanding tasks. The inclusion of a graphene cooling sticker is a great feature that helps maintain optimal temperatures during extended use.

However, it’s worth noting that this SSD may not be compatible with the PS5 console, as the PS5 requires a Gen4 version of NVMe SSDs. So, if you’re specifically looking for an upgrade for your PS5, it’s important to consider a Gen4 NVMe SSD instead.

For laptop and PC desktop users, the Fikwot FN501 Pro provides a reliable and efficient storage solution. The SLC cache and 3D NAND TLC technology ensure high-speed performance and long-term durability. Installation is straightforward, thanks to its M.2 interface.

In conclusion, the Fikwot FN501 Pro 256GB NVMe SSD is a solid choice for improving storage performance in compatible systems. Just make sure to verify its compatibility with your device, especially if you intend to use it with the PS5.

After initial installation and performance test, this Fikwot FN500 512GB NVMe drive is a good value. I have not tested for longevity yet expect longevity equal to any name brand drive of like architecture. I was taking a chance with this (unknown to me) brand and was pleased with benchmark tests. Given the low price of this drive which just happened to came with mounting screw and screwdriver was a bonus. No, I would not use it for a mission critical server, but for general computing I see no fault with using this brand.

I’m always sceptical when it comes to drives from unknown brands. So far this one seems to be working well. I’ve only tested it in an external enclosure via usb and so far have had no issues. Not sure whether I’d risk it as a main drive but as a fast external drive with an enclosure I’m quite pleased with it.

Only on screw. That was not fun cause I did let mine fall, other than that it’s pretty easy to install and use.

    Fikwot FN501 Pro 256GB NVMe SSD – M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 x4

I had the pleasure of test two Fikwot NVMe SSD drives and while Ive never heard of the company before i was also skeptical as to whether the drive was either fake or in general wouldn’t work at all due to the low price of these drives.

Over the last few days i tested the device to see how its performed during a full and fresh installation of windows.
I currently use an internal SSD which houses my current windows installation and i know how long it took to roughly install and i felt the performance of the Fikwot when install was slightly quicker in completing the whole process.
I never received any issue while going through the loading phases and once all setup i did notice a slight improvement when going through the directories opening files and loading programs.
Transferring data to and from the drive i felt was adequate certainly fast enough however, this isn’t the fastest NVMe that you would find on the market certainly not for gaming use if that’s what you intend of using this for.

My only worry is the reliability these NVMe drives do generate heat naturally and while i only have 30 days to review the device it should perform without issues during that period however, the manufacturer does provide a 3 year warranty if you register the device.

Overall my system saw the drive as a 256GB drive, fast transfers of data, good portability if your looking to use this as an external.

NVMe drives are coming down in price, and now is a good time to upgrade your system if you don’t already have NVMe support. There are not many new motherboards that don’t have at least one M.2 socket. You can usually then expand the number of sockets using PCIe cards. If all else fails, you can always buy M.2 enclosures that connect via your USB ports. This works, but will limit the speed that can be reached.

This NVMe drive arrives in a retail box along with a tiny screwdriver, a tiny screw, and some instructions. The one I was sent was a 256GB model, but I would recommend getting a larger one if you can afford it.

Normally, I would speed test an NVMe drive directly on the motherboard, but at the moment, I am not in a position to do so. However, I have speed tested it in an enclosure connect to the PC via a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, which has a maximum of 10Gbps. I have included a photo of the results, and you can see the drive is being clamped by the limited connection. I have no doubt though the claimed 2800MBps, should be reached on a PCIe connection.

Overall, fair value NVMe M.2 drive. I hope that helps.
