Last night I put some pints of chili in my Presto Pressure canner for a 1 hour 16 minute cycle plus the 1.5 hour cool down. After the beeping for putting on the regulator went off and I put it on, I started a movie and eventually fell asleep on the couch. The beep signalling the cool down phase was complete woke me up and I pulled the jars out to cool.
I fell asleep! I LOVE this pressure canner. I have the regular Presto stovetop canner that requires the babysitting. It’s great if you are on a budget. But, if your time is valuable, this Pressure Canner is worth the price.
While it doesn’t hold as many jars as a stovetop canner, most of the recipes you find in all the Ball canning books fit perfectly in this canner. If you have a small family or garden, this is a perfect canner. If you have a large family, this is still great because you can do it in batches and walk away to do other things. Or, you can use it to can alongside your stovetop canner as a supplemental canner.
The only small critique I have is that the instructions say to remove the regulator from the lid until venting has completed, but there seems to be a setting where you can leave the regulator on but point it to venting. I’m a little confused by this.

I’m going to be able to can so many delicious nutritious foods from our organic garden!! Last year I was canning with the stovetop canning system and it was a lot of work.. I am looking forward to this year , as I can see from just one amazing experience my mid summer and early fall will be so fantastic as I will have the time to not only can my veggies but to enjoy making all new recipes!! Last year I was exhausted afterwards and didn’t can as much as I see happening this year! Look for my full review this fall!! I can’t wait!!

So nice to not have to sit and watch the pressure gauge. A bit of getting use to, not bad. Really happy with this purchase.

I was a little nervous with using this electric presser canner. But once I went through the easy step by step instructions, I was hooked. This makes pressure canning so easy. The digital screen lets you know when its time for each step (and the laminated card also walks you through the process). I’ve pressure canned soups and stews so far. I can’t wait until the tomato season starts – this will definitely get worked. Bonus – its can also be used as a water bath canner as well. Get it. You wont regret it.

My wife insisted this was the very best and she had to have it. I bought it a few months ago and she has not used it once. Do you know how much Coors I could buy for this price.
The outside is black and I plugged it in and the screen lit up. Yup

Love this item. I’ve now done both pressure canning and boiling water canning in it. I think that it is fool proof. As others have said, this greatly reduces the temperature in the kitchen when canning. I’ve done it the old fashioned way for many years and dreaded the heat. This is the first time I’ve pressure canned. Always wanted to but was a little fearful of the old regulators. This unit is easy. Everything is step by step. It is big if sitting on your counter but so were the old pressure canners so no issue with that. Highly recommended!

Easy to use unit, machine prompts you through steps. If you’re familiar with pressure canning, you know that it is a fairly intensive process. With the Presto Precise, once your filled jars are in the canner you can walk away. The canner fits 5 quart jars, which is the perfect size for putting a batch of soup together, or broth etc, and letting it do its work while you go about your daily activities. Unfortunately you cannot water bath can quarts in this, only pressure can. All in all, this is the perfect unit for someone who plans to make many small/medium batchs.

Does exactly what it says it will do. Works amazing. Only concern is the warranty is only good in the United States.

Great product. Just follow the instructions.

It’s been over 2 years since I bought the Presto 12 Qt Electric Canner and have used it for pressure canning tomato sauce, chicken (breast, thigh, legs as well as culled chickens including backs, ribs, neck and wings), canned chicken broth, beef stew meat, ground beef and vegs. I can in quart, 1-1/2 quart and pint jars. The canner works as well today as it did two years ago. It’s a piece of cake to operate. I find it completely safe and trust the temp/time readings. My only complaint would be the canner program seems long to cool down which continues to cook the food longer but that assures me its doing its job killing spores and other bacterium. There have been naysayers over the past two years, but I think it’s more a reflection of their discomfort with technology. A woman on youtube has reviewed this canner using an internal probe to record temperatures in an effort to validate the unit heats beyond 240* for a long enough period to kill all spores. Although she has reverted to her Presto 25qt stove top canner. I can in smaller batches so the 12 qt is just fine for me. I don’t use the water bath because I have the Ball freshTECH Electric Water Bath Canner that drains into the sin -i t’s energy efficient and doesn’t heat my kitchen). I also use the Presto freshTech for jams/jellies. But if you don’t have a water bath I believe this canner would work just as well. This electric digital pressure canner has certainly lived up to it’s claims. It makes pressure canning for me so much easier and I like the fact that I can heat jars, can and cool all in the same vessel – less mess.
