I must add the qualifier that I am not a connoisseur. Before this machine, I drank cold brew coffee because I couldn’t be bothered making coffee. But, when I stayed at a Ritz Carlton in France, I found this so easy to use and the coffee so good and strong, that, when I returned, I bought this. I don’t even know where the directions are and never looked at them. It is very easy to use. I am having fun with all the different flavored pods. It fits a full sized mug with the frothed milk added. See photo.

A good choice for those looking for a quick coffee at the touch of a button. That said, even using Nespresso pods, you cannot replicate espresso bar quality coffee. Reusable pods are a good sustainable option but you have to do a fair bit of experimentation to get the right coffee, grind size and weight, and filling pods somewhat defies the touch-of-a-button idea. I won’t be using this machine much.

First I should say, I own a very nice Breville Barista Touch maker and have gotten very good with dialing in my espresso’s. Friends and family all rave about my latte’s and cappuccino’s and look forward to coming over to my place for them.
My purpose in buying another espresso machine is that sometimes I don’t want to go through all the fuss, effort and time it takes to weigh out the beans, grind, distribute, tamp, extract, steam/foam milk, and then all the cleanup of the machine and other tools I use. For example, after my usual morning “fancy” cappuccino, in the afternoon and want a quick and easy shaken iced coffee, or just an americano with some half & half. Quick and easy. Well that’s EXACTLY what this machine provides. For such little effort, time and cleanup, you get a delicious espresso for whatever kind of drink you like. I’m addicted to my shaken espressos now, soooo delicious.
I use Peet’s 11 dark espresso pods and they are very good. I highly recommend them. Yes, they’re a little pricey at around $.90 each if you buy at Safeway in a small 10 pack box, but only about $.70 if bought in bulk of 100 on Amazon, but if you consider buying an iced espresso drink somewhere, it’s a small fraction of the cost.
I bought the chrome version and it’s absolutely beautiful. Has such a classy high end look, and no, this machine isn’t inexpensive, but it makes it looks like it was even more expensive. I love the compact design and how small it is on my counter next to my much bigger Breville.
I highly recommend this machine.

If you enjoy a barista coffee espresso from an expensive machine, and do not mind the grinding, compressing and fine tuning for single shot, then cleaning for a 2nd, this machine is NOT for you.
But, if you enjoy fresh brewed pot of very good coffee, and love an additional shot (.85 oz., 1.35 oz., or 3.71 oz.) of enhancement, this “original” pod machine will not disappoint.
Now retired, we have used our Nespresso Original pod machine daily for the past 2 years (our 2nd CitiZ w/milk frother). The first Citiz lasted over 5 years of part time use while we were working. Use is easy, clean up easier. No mess, no fuss, Nespresso even pays the shipping to recycle your used pods.
If you only drink a single cup of coffee per day (or two), then a “Vertuo” machine may be more appropriate. If you do not care to pay for the pods (.75- $1.10 ave. each) skip altogether, and save your money.
We enjoy a good morning pot of coffee. Having moved from CA to the Low Country, our coffee grinds come from Presto George Roasters in Pittsburgh, PA, we brew a 12 cup pot daily, and add a flavorful Nespresso shot. Great way to start a morning, life is short, enjoy.

My wife and I are coffee lovers. We own a Keurig (For drip coffee), an espresso DIY machine (For barista style) & a manual french brew machine in our home. I wanted to try a Nespresso coffee maker for easiness and hence decided to try this after giving a try to the Essenza Mini model before this. Overall very satisfied with the machine and can say it delivers for the price. I would recommend it to anyone. However, there are a few cons with it too.
Here are my thoughts after trying it for a week:
Pros:
– Espresso quality is really good. Coffee tastes good. It delivers espresso with 19 bar pressure and with crema on it
– Froth functionality works great too with aerochino
– Machine heats up pretty fast (faster than Keurig). Usually, it is ready between 30-60 seconds
– It can make espresso and lungo coffee
– Machine looks elegant overall with nice design elements
– It fits large cups too unlike Essenza mini machine
– Milk frother has a dedicated space on the machine to avoid any accidental fall of the milk tumbler
– Water tank capacity is good enough & would not need a frequent refill
– Reasonable price in the competition
Cons:
– The cup base is metal and it slips when machine runs to make espresso. I wish it has some non-skid coating
– The compartment for the used coffee pods is very small & hence needs to be emptied frequently
– We use a humidifier in the home and due to that I can see this machine turning white dusty from the fog making it look dirty and hence needs a frequent wipe
– No LCD and all functionality with 2 hard-pressed buttons makes it less modern
– Machine does not descale or clean automatically, so detailed cleaning is needed for the internal parts over the period of time
Considering all the pros, I decided to keep this machine in my home for that Nespresso taste.
