I use this device to back up my computer files and programs. I had previously been using the cloud to back up everything, and I was told that Apple could not take responsibility if something went wrong. This LaCie device has a 5 year warranty that protects my data. It also has a claim of 3m drop protection. It took about 2.5 hours to backup everything the first time, but I don’t even notice this device working in the background thereafter. I hope that this external hard drive will last for many years to come.

The product is reliable. I have found Thunderbolt and USB-C drives that are much cheaper but have problems with disconnects. Sometimes it is when the drive gets hot but I have seen it with idle drives too. The LaCie Rugged drives are plugged in 24/7 and when under heavy use it stays working. I know that sustained high usage that performance can go down but that is an issue with all solid state drives. I still will buy the cheaper drives when I need a temporary storage drive but for data that matters, I will only use this LaCie Rugged drive. Waiting for a price drop for my next purchase but I feel like it will never happen.

I use this as my hard drive and cloud back up. The one terra bit storage is great and I can store all family vacation photos for years to come.

Apparently LaCie is a premium brand of Seagate. They use a top rated disk drive (spinning or SSD) and place it in their own aluminium enclosure that is again surrounded by a bright orange rubber bump strip. Use them for my backups so I can easily store them safely away (household fire safe) and not worry about them suffering the odd knock or two.

Haven’t had to use the tech support, it’s just plug and play. My old external drive used to take thirty minutes (times two) for a backup. I start my backup on Sunday morning before I walk our dog and by the time I return (ten minutes) the backup (Macrium) has finished. Then I backup the partitions.

This is my go to hard drive as a full time photographer. I use to use Western Digital but after a terrible incident where I lost ALL my files & had to pay $1700 to get the disk repaired to get my data back, I have not gone back lol I feel my data is safe with this drive.

This hard drive is amazing! It’s fast and looks lovely with the orange rubber case. Below the fancy rugged case is a standard lacie drive but it’s thin and quiet!
I got the 2tb version and for £70 it was a bargain

We have been buying these for a few years for backing up photos and video. These hold up really well if stores properly. Over all it’s a great product.
Storage capacity is based on what size you get. Our normal purchase is 2T and we hold thousands of files.
We’ve never had to use tech support so I can’t give an honest review on that but if it’s anything like the quality of the product and packaging my guess is it’s good.
This product is super portable it’s fairly small in size and can easily slip into a pocket of a computer bag.

I love that this drive is lightweight yet rugged when it comes to drops and spills etc, because that will happen a lot here. I also LOVE the ease of use and really nothing to learn about to use it. Basically, plug and play with a small download.
HOWEVER, I did not like that there was no cable included for USB-C to USB-A. For the kind of money I spent, I would like to see the company include at least an adapter for this type of connection. I almost sent a great drive back due to this exclusion (and in fact, had the return ready to go), then I decided to contact a well-known retailer that deals with computers and accessories. They guided me to a cable that works, but had the adapter been included, I wouldn’t have had to jump through the hoops and delay the project by another two days until someone could go pick up the cable. So if you are in this same situation, order an adapter or USB-C to USB-A cable when ordering this drive. You will be glad you did.
All-in-all, I’m very happy that, in the end, I chose to find another way to keep this drive and am very happy with the performance of it overall.

This external ssd is fast it comes pre-formatted in Exfat. the transfer speeds are around 2.5Gb/s it takes about 3 minutes to transfer a 13.5 Gb file. It runs fairly cool it gets warm but not too hot that it needs a fan. the silicone coating is durable and shock resistant. the silicone coating also prevents it from slipping off the desk or counter.
